4 cyl ECU reader at Donnington

Recommended Posts

Could somebody (LEW / Dermot perhaps) take a 4 cylinder ECU code reader to Donnington please? Matty's have my car today and the car is reporting erratic alternator charging and a fault code 26, but they can't trace either. A volt meter over the alternator is showing a constant voltage. If somebody could help diagnose the cause of code 26, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks in advance.

Hey!

Will bring the laptop and lead to donny.

Code 26 is an old friend of mine and took delight in intermittantly stealing

my boost. This code is common as incredibly it covers about ten items/areas.

Other fault codes can be a bit more specific.

Laptop battery a bit naff now so will probably not be good for a log but should

at least split the code list for 26 in half. the list is:

- RPM relay

- Radiator relay

- A/C control relay

- engine overheat relay

- solenoid relay (throttle jack)

- ebpv solenoid

- wastegate solenoid

- canister purge solenoid

- check engine light bulb

- secondary injector circuit

As the cause for 26 is so wide, any search will find a fair bit of conjecture and

you could find ten different people with ten different causes. I fiddled about blindly

until freescan split the list in half, and then i focused on the items on that list.

So i won't hinder things by having wild guesses.. :D

I replaced all the red marked components until it went

away. But all the items are relatively cheap (think i spent about

:P What. I don't know what you mean. I have a gleaming avatar :D

Thanks Paul. Some other people have offered to bring their freescan so if your lappie dies, we have backups. Your knowledge of the software and code 26 will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers mate.

Is a pity Dermot probably won't be there as i REALLY do have

very limited knowledge on the program (especially the log result area

this is like rocket science to me). Is your code 26 permenant?

Mmm...

:P

Have been informed that 'my' laptop (actually Vicki's old college one)

has been lent to her mother. I do see elsewhere though Jase that other

guys are bringing theirs too :D

So if i don't get it back does that mess you up?

PS,

There is a link to my own fault here if it is of any use:

A very big thank you to everybody that helped on Sunday. I'm going to go and have a wiggle and clean this evening and if no better order some new solenoids tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

Thanks again :D
