    Welcome home 007

  • Morning folks - I'll put my hand up and admit I've bought the Essex - absolutely delighted and am feeling very lucky to finally have my dream Esprit garage ?

Part of me is happy that this Essex is back home; but a big part of me is not happy that I won't see this car on the streets of Melbourne again! I'm not sure that I can adequately describe my feelings

Hi crew,

its been up for sale for about 3 months, If it had of come up for sale 1 month earlier it would be sitting in my garage!

I think its slightly over priced, thought maybe 45k-48k is realistic, i do agree that she is a very special Esprit. However they don't sell fast or well here regardless of how rare it is. We may see that price come down.

The owner recently added that the price is neg! It is the only Essex in Oz.

Mark

If it helps the rear tyres were almost bald and of course the correct Goodyear NCT 235 60 VR tyres are as rare as rocking horse doo doo so that might help in your negotiating.

It is great to see it surface and from the pics be in a much better condition than when it left this country.

Chris - are you going to PM Dave ?

Mark, when I looked at the car last year the leather interior was really in need of a FULL re-trim and the paintwork was looking tired, but then again it did reflect the over 100k mileage. So assuming a "proper" paint job has been done (in the correct shade of blue!) and the interior re-trimmed by some one who knows the difference between leather and Lotus leather then no worries. I recall that the engine has been fully rebuilt and it did sound very sweet, no knocking or tapping, and had a FULL service history. shame about the tyres being worn out though, but maybe they have been changed, not clear enough in the photo.

Me and Barry will be glad to come over and check it out for you Mark...( we only fly 1st class though) :ermm:

No Bazza I thought you would give Dave the good news...

Could be wrong but i think the rubber in any NCT's would have gone off by now so they would really only be suitable for show purposes?

When I saw it back in 2010 it was a mess.

If it has been restored properly then IMHO it is worth the £27k being asked.

If you want one, try finding another (working) one for sale

I know James that owns the car. He runs a shop that does work on several different marques. It would be in great nick.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.
