Just pulled the distributor cap expecting to find points but seems it may be an electronic.

Can someone look at the pics and let me know if the Pertronix unit I've just purchased will be an improvement.

Thats the original Lucas constant energy system. As long as its functioning correctly, I dont think your Pertronix unit will offer any significant (if any) advantage.

Interesting how they changed by '85 to what appears to be magnetic pickup. My '79 S2 has a Lucas lumenition system utilizing a optical pickup with a Maltese cross chopper wheel on it. (blades interrupt the light beam). Nice not having to set points, but I had to replace the chopper wheel once due to a crack in the plastic securing the slide on wheel to the metal shaft.

I have a cutout/stumble problem at higher revs so thought it may be the distributor, but looking at the cap/rotor/HT lead, this may be the issue.
