S3 n/a esprit delorto carbs

Hi everyone, please can anyone tell me if the S3 esprit carbs need to be oil filled as i remember other type carbs have dash oil pots like s u carbs or once set up and running they are maintenance free thanks stu.

The oil ones are SU and some others from memory.

The important things with Dell'Orto carbs are..float level; all the jets being clear, no 'orrid varnish blocking then and the right size; and setting up the four chokes to all suck the same amount! Once they're set, they're good for a very long time, I've found.

hi, do you think a petrol additive would be good to use too clean the carbs or is the super unleaded enough too avoid any build up thanks stu.

If the car has been standing around for a long time, the jets might need removing to clean them. Mine got well clinkered up with varnish from this modern petrol, and i had to physically ream the slow running jets out with a piece of calibrated guitar string....works fine, now!
