Don't know the history I'm afraid but I did have a look at it when I was there on Tuesday and it does look very nice, with that cracker of a wing and beautiful condition. However Richard does have a great '89 SE for sale in black too, the colour of champions... :P

Going from a friend's dealings with Sporto, I would say they seem a pretty reputable bunch.

Go and have a look at it - he generally seems to offer more reasonable prices too as he likes to keep cars moving in and out rather than sit on them for ages for an extra couple of

IIRC The guy is kind of negotiable if you give him a reason to be......

I wouldn't quote me on this I have never bought there myself - just a friend but he has had good service - warranty and any problems sorted out etc... He has been able to cut deals in the past too.... *MAY* be worht mentioning he came recommended from someone on LEW? KNowing there are hundredds of potential buyers there but tbh as he's a businessman trying to get the best deal he can, I cant imagine it would make a diff! lol

I do know he is keen to keep stock moving so may well be open to an offer to keep the cash circualting :P

WHOA THERE !!!

Whatever you do (and if its the only piece of information you gleen from this forum) do not - I repeat DO NOT - purchase a car from UK Sportscars.

There's many reasons why not and many owners who will testify to these reasons.

I don't wish to put anything slanderous on this open forum but suffice to say that you should steer WELL clear of them.

Oh, and I only live 15 mins away from them.... :P

EVIL

Wash your mouth out and mention ye not the unholy words that are UKSC :o

errrr.... does that give you an idea?

EVERYONE I have read about uksc has been bad - I am sure there have been good ones (somewhere?) but omg the number of VERY negative reports have been huge. Warranty issues, misrepresenting, lack of knowledge, the lot!

The problem with UKSC is that they always seem to have a few nice Esprits to choose from - but that's where it ends.

Probably a nice place to go and look and do some research - but that's all though.

From what I've heard they are the root of all evil - a bit like the Lotus Dealer I bought my car from, a couple of years back. VERY, VERY EVIL INDEED. Luckily these guys have been shot in the head.

Would not want to post my experience of the above named operation but suffice to say it wasn't good. They seem to attract the unwary first time purchaser and as stated above it is a shame cos it always looks like a nice selection of Esprits to look at.

Its a shame. They appear to have some classy stock on their books, not that you can always judge by a photograph. Serious money though. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind paying for a good top class Esprit, but even so, very strong pound notes.

Caught between a rock and a hard place in a catch 22 situation, So its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Your damned if you do, but your damned if you don't so shut your cock!!!!!!!!!!!

Thing is,

If the car is new stock and they have not had any dealing with it, then there is no reason why it should be any different tyo any other used Esprit. I'd just sooner get it from the previous owner without paying the premium.

There is a very rare SE highwing in the latest Club Lotus mag classifieds.

It is a silk red example, cream leather with 60k miles for

Ive seen it Paul. Totally agree. Its apparent that you do not get the support / back up alledgedly for the extra premium either. You cannot justify or get a chance to inform a lot of people buying, especially for the first time, do your homework, speak to people and be PATIENT. Easier said than done I know. The internet however is a great source of information. Was'nt available when I bought my first Esprit. Its an absolute mine of information in comparison to them then non internety days, and forums like this with like minded informed individuals is an excellent source of info.

my car too had been sitting around in there place earlier this year, on behalf of the private guy that i bought it off of. it was up for 3.5K more in there hands, and strangely enough, nobody bought it. it does seem that nobody down there did anything to it, so thats a relief. it werent even washed in there sales photo.

what i am finding out about owning more exotic cars, and run of the mill runabouts is, if you want to make sure something is done right, get in there and do it yourself. If youve got the time, bionic oil filter removal techniques, triple jointed fingers and arms, and a lot of experieince, make yourself a lotus specialist, by reseaching everywhere there is info, and DIY ing it. cant be doing with the

I happened to be out and about in the Canterbury area yesterday afternoon so thought I'd pass through Wingham and see what UKSC have in their possession at the moment.

There was a red 89 Turbo reg G940*** out on the main road which is one of their sale cars - looked very nice but I didn't actually stop to analyse it.

As I drove through Wingham I realised why UKSC do so well.... The village is very attractive and exudes 'class' so unsuspecting purchasers are immediately warmed to the area before even seeing the cars. You then drive toward their premises and are greeted by some pretty amazing looking cars grouped together. Its a recipe for sales success.

With all this and their full page adverts in the Club Lotus mags, its easy to see how the unknowing Lotus enthusiast can get sucked in.

I'm just glad I found the forums BEFORE buying my car otherwise I may well have been one of the suckers.

Like Paul's car, mine had been through UKSC in one of its earlier incarnations but thankfully mine isn't too badly scathed as a result

Am pretty sure the Azure S4s they have is a known car previously belonging to a forum user.

But as you say theres the premium on price, a high dealer premium can only justified by red carpet after sales service and warrantee.

To my knowledge UKSC give three month warrantees (which did not cover my S3's 'consumable' clutch). Sportamotive seem to give twelve months on their site - worth a few grand if they are good on it.

Sporto covered my friends V8 and did a lot of warranty work. They also covered a repair out of their own pockets when the warranty people wouldn't play ball!

Richard there, also just helped another friend out on a favour, taking up a fair bit of his own time and wouldn't let him pay anything for it!

Going from my own err.... second hand experience  were I personally to buy from a dealer, they would be my first port of call.
