S1 Doors

Hi Guys -

I'm well along in my S1 restoration and have come to "fixing" the doors. Both are sagging and one has moved back.

Does anyone have directions and pics on how to fix / adjust ?

Hi Bob,

Sounds like we have the same problem. Mine are both sagging a little. The hinge bushings need to be replaced. There are two on each door, top & bottom on the hinge pin, and are made of plastic, well nylon I think. Anyways pretty sure the door needs to be removed off the car and then disassembled to get accesses to the bushings but I maybe wrong. It is on my to do list for this winter. SJ Sportscars has them, Part# C079U4189F.

Thanks Gavin. I'll be attempting the job in the next month or so and will let you know how it is going.

They are indeed plastic bushings and have a tendency to creep over time. I removed both doors and replaced with bronze bushings. Problem solved.

Same here. I replaced them with the UHMW ones these are self oiling as well. I made them up on my CNC router
