S3 Locking Wheel Stud

ElTel

Question

I have one locking wheel stud that has been damaged by over-tightening so I need a replacement. I know I will probably have to buy a set of four, but can anyone tell me what wheel studs did Lotus use on the G cars, or are they Lotus parts? (doubtful ase they probably came from another manufacturers parts bin).

I never fitted them, but the ones on your car are aftermarket i'm sure

as i had an identical set (not keyed the same obviously) on my Supra.

It's tyre monkeys using guns on them that mess them up. Any decent shop will

carefully use a wrench on the adaptor key, Cowboys use the gun and pull it away

before it stops, hence gnarling the locking slots.

Watch them like a hawk :D

I borrowed a set to try that looked similar to the damaged locking nut from a local accessory shop but the shoulder was too deep for the BBs wheel, thats why I am trying to establish what studs Lotus use so that I can buy the correct replacement. ElTel

This has been raised on Yahoo several times in the past - try using the search engine (good luck!) over there to find the threads in the past - I know an answer has been given......

Have you tried asking one of the parts dealers such PNM, SJ's and the like. They are usualy well informed, well sometimes ;)

Oh and if you find out post it here. I will sometime in the future compose a list of useful facts and pin it at the top of the G-Car forum.

Well at least you got a set OK

As soon as I get a bit of time I'll start on that list. I have a few extra contacts now forr various parts for the Esprit and should soon be able to get pre 85 trunions, balljoints, vertical links at a good price as a friend is just starting up a Triumph parts company. In case you didn't know the above are all from a Spitfire GT6.
