I keep reading about the Esprit replacement, but it is always just journalists imagination. Is this anything more? What's happening with the engine. I understood Lotus were not going to use their own V8 but source from elsewhere. Seems a shame really, but in this time, where the accountant runs things, I can see why it happens like that.

Like the look of this though.

;)

Aren't Proton a Malaysian company? Not sure if I'd but a Lotus built by Proton directly...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes Proton is a Malaysian company. I would not buy any Lotus built there.(I was going to buy a new one on my 50th birthday, if it goes back into production) IN ENGLAND ! Maybe now is the time to let Proton know this would not be a wise decision? Lotus has a very small customer base, and I think it would be wrong of Proton to alienate any of us..........What do the rest of you think? Wayne 83Turbo

I'm not sure i suppose i would have to see one if the quailty seemed good enough then why not! Thing that would concern me is that you ended up with Malaysian build quality with a uk hand built price tag ;)

there is speculation in the article in Autocar that the engine might be a a V8 AMG merc as used in the SL, esprit mock ups running at hethel sound the same suposedly.

in the past few months there has been mention of the lotus V8 and the toyota engine.

Is this supposed to be a 2007 model?

If so, Lotus should be releasing some info pretty soon eh?

I also heard somewhere before that the M5 V8 was being considered, but that was probably all just speculation.

Last I had heard was that they were going back to the idea of using their own V8!!!

Not overly keen on the idea of a Malaysian builts 'supercar' way to destroy any credibility / cache!

A very good analogy albeit accidental! :D

That was a 30 second diy artistic impression of how my new nosebadge would be (outline in silvery / chrome)

Autocar seem to print pictures as being the lates scoop whcih are equally as accurate! ;)

That whole story needs to be taken with a veritable sea of salt!

I think the concept of "30 second asrtistic impression" a la Autocar (ie of very little bearing to the actual finished item) has been lost along the way there somewhere ;)

I'm having a one-off handmade badge crafted by a local Jeweller (we were going to go for Titanium but decided it was not 'right')

I gave them an offical black/gold lotus nose badge to copy....

If it looks like I described to them, it will look the absolute t1ts!

I myself prefer the classic Lotus badge in Black( as fitted to the Waynemobile) If it was good enough for the Type 72 gp car (pre JPS) its good enough for me ;) Interested to see how your custom insignia turns out! B) Wayne 83 Turbo
