Drawbacks/Dislikes of Esprit Ownership?

#1 People who ask "Ow Much iz it Wurf ?"

#2 People asking " How long did it take you to put the kit together?"

#3 People who ask me who made it ,whilst standing looking at the rear bumper

#4 The local police spot it a mile off , and then spend the rest of the afternoon following me at the speed limit.

#5 It feels wrong to be obsessed with an inanimate object.

#6 The location of the distributor, what the hell was Tony Rudd thinking when he put it there? Everytime I go near it ,my hand ends up swollen up like a boxing glove.

#7 Unavailability of Goodyear NCT tyres in the right size. Is this how Goodyear repays Lotus for winning the F1 championship in 1978(on their rubber) Couldnt they see fit to produce 100 sets for us?

#8 Not being able to leave it anywhere without worrying about it.

#9 All that "James Bond" car cr@p

#10 Seeing other Esprits that are poorly or over modded and end up looking like sh1t Whats wrong with these guys? Giugiaros styling not good enough? Dont you know when to stop?

Dislikes are selling the previous, then the frustration of looking for a replacement. By that I refer to the unscrupulous bods that tell you its a silk purse only to get there and find its a pigs ear

People who insist on putting their paws all over the car to have a look just after you have cleaned it.

Everything. Its my dream car, never thought i would own one. Now I am on my second.

Would I swap it. Absolutely not.

Even now, they are a rare car.

The owners! Have only really spoken on the forum. But, friendly, informative, helpfull, sense of humour, etc etc No snobs B)

My biggest dislike is when someone finds out or knows I own an Esprit and they comment, "Oh, must be nice!". Then when I notify them their brand new BMW or Mercedes or new SUV cost more and how it must be nice for them, they act all snooty falluty and go, "well yeah,but it ain't a Lotus though!".

Damn right. I love my Lotus!!

Disadvantages:

1) The worry of leaving it anywhere

2) The worry of major expense

3) The hand brake position for hill starts (it combination with the clutch can be v embaressing)

4) People think I'm rich ("it is because of this car that I'm not - stupid!")

Advantages

1) One of the best looking wedges on the road. People notice this. It stands out.

2) Oh it's quick

3) Handles like nothing else

4) Very rare, don't see many at all.

6) My Daughters school friends love it, therefore so does my daughter!

8) My work colleagues would never buy one, and yet ask me about it all the time.
