Lotus Excel Series 1 and a half (1983)

Sad decision!

Lotus Excel 2.2 must go (or I have to stop flying) have owned for 24 years and has entire service history.

Gold (one of only three in colour) originally supplied by London Lotus Centre)

101K miles, but only 200 in last two years).

MoT until November 2011

Tax until end of May 2011

Exterior 7 to 8 out of 10 (No crashes but various minor scrapes/dings all professionally repaired under insurance – pleased to say none my fault!)

Original Toyota wheels and matching alloy spare

Interior 7 to 8 out of 10 (Half leather – magnolia – headlining replaced, Original, working radio etc.)

Engine/Mechanicals 6 to 7 (Oil pressure excellent 5 bar (75 psi) at 3500 rpm when hot – rises within seconds when started from cold etc. good pressure circa 1.5 bar on tickover, when hot) BUT – needs new crankcase oil seal and benefit from top end overhaul etc. cam belt due for replacement but not done as for sale and pointless if new owner wishes to do other work – does not smoke but black inside of exhausts so must be using oil (in addition to oil leak)

Everything works ( e.g. wipers, headlights pop up and down OK, electric windows). Kept garaged.

Sensible offers please, preferably after you see her etc.

More pictures available and open to inspection etc. (Oxfordshire). If you (or me) had the cam belt done you could use her happily for the summer then decide what to do – alternatively could overhaul the engine and use her long term.
