Okie dokie, if any of you chaps can shed any light on what type of clocks I have and what I need to do to repair them, as you can see from the photographs the clocks are both stuck.

I have brought the manaul and it does not cover this binnacle

Any ideas how to test or repair these?

I can only see one bolt above the steering wheel

They are the green Veglia Instruments as fitted to the S1 Esprit.

You should have the black Smiths dials on your S2 (the same as

the S3).

Is yours an early S2?, maybe they crossed over.

I think the Green dials on the Veglia gauges look

fantastic, and they have lotus badges on them! :)

They look more 'period' than the later smiths dials

that together with the leyland switchgear make the

dash look a 'bit' kitcar like.

..if theres anything wrong with that! :)

But the running problem really did seem like a petol issue and I wonder what the oil is leaking from? maybe two problems (excluding the clocks not working )

Have you checked the fuel pump?

On the Turbo the pump is located just before the LH wheel.

I have replaced mine 2 days ago. A quite straightforward job.

Taking the instrument binacle off is quite an involved job but if the problem is anything like the one i had the all thats wrong is that the needles on the gauges have curled up and are resting on the glass.

Once you have exposed the instrument panel, leave the needles in place and play a heat gun on them at low teperature and then bend the needles back and hold them in place while they cool.

Bolts to hold on the binicle are under the dash and behind the two side panels on the binacle.

Cheers

Gordon

Having owned an S1 I had the same problem which just baffled me for the longest time. I removed the binnacle about 6 times before I realized the problem. As posted before the needles get warped and touch the plastic shield. I found the easiest solution was to put a spacer at the bottom of each corner of the shield to give the needles some clearance. Not exactly the most elegant way to repair but it worked.
