Ignition Tell Tales

Good evening to one and all. Got a prob with the S4. When i switch on ignition the low coolant and fan fail tell tale do not light and test theirselves. Had the binnacle off. Bulbs are fitted and have been tested to see if working and they are. Any thoughts?

Firstly - well done for getting the binnacle off.

Secondly - I don't ever recall these two lights coming on in my car at start up.

Oh no - Is this a new problem

Okay - Quick read of the Bible (Service Manual) states the following.

Fan fail tell tale and tell tale check module was deleted with the inclusion of the revised wiring harness (This being Dec 93 onwards).

The engine coolant tell tale does not self test at start up. On the revised harness cars the level sensor is located in the plastic header tank.

Problem solved.

That'll be 17.50 + vat + after 22:00hrs callout fee

Thanks Simon. Had a read through the service manual and never picked up on that Still, at least I know how to get the binnacle off now What a poxy job that was. Not too bad coming off, but what a bugger to get back in situ

Intersting reply Simon, I was just off to have a look at mine as I too had never recalled this happening. Good job to came back with the answer otherwise we would have all had our binnicles off!
