cant believe that, I was well up for the lotus thrashing the *its off that porche. I hope our team get it and I kind of think we will because of all the bad press about the gear box, they wouldnt knock our cars so bad and leave us down would they? would they? funny enough I spoke to the producer of topgear only two days ago about my esprit so I hope there not having a go as I said that nothing compares to them, the handling, looks etc is just the best and thats that.

Relax guys ,its only a T.V. show ! I wont get to see it for about a yr.(on speed channel) but have watched old episodes of 5th Gear. It seems they are blowing up/crashing/ rolling or trashing some motor on every show! It wouldnt be good t.v. if the Esprit project went 100% right. Had it occured to you that Mr. Tiff and the Vicky bird are not as good at driving as they are portrayed (alot of editing used) Maybe if this affects the values of V8s (for the worse) Iwill be able to afford one .........Wayne 83 Turbo

Slow down! I blew the gearbox in my V8. Yep a grand seems alot for a chip they should 've got one off Marcus. Mind you they did get 2 turbos, custom made twin Chargecoolers and a full set of AP brakes for

I was tryin to find out a while ago how many had blown there boxes see if it was really that bad to justify an upgrade and there was only one other that replied so maybe there not that bad after all!!!

The project does seem a bit of a mess! Lotus were contacted about being involved in the project, but decided it wasn't something they wanted to put their name against for obvious reasons.

As for the gearbox, it's unlikely any inspection would see the problem until it acutally broke. I doubt the gearbox would be covered in any inspection, as you just can't tell without taking it apart, other that the obvious.

From what I gather a firm called GTO rebuilt the gearbox after it broke. Exchange would have been

Ive done the gear box in my V8 GT after 23K!!! I got a superb replacement from GTO Eng for a grand, and im well chuffed!!! i ve had my V8 chipped, uprated turbos and front and rear discs, cost me alot more than they spent! I get about 420bhp from mine at 8psi, i tried it at 10psi, toooooo scarrry!!!!

Tiff would break a massey fergusson!!!! ive spoken to GTO about it, they were asked to increase the ratios to enable the esprit to do 200mph, nothing was mentioned about bhp!!! the car came out of TVRacing with 430bhp at 8psi, however, the wonderful tiff decided to increase it to 15psi and then wonders why the gearbox gave up!!! idiot!!!
