I was looking at my rear AC fittings that connect to the compressor, and they both have threaded fittings to the hose itself...has anyone replaced these 90 degree angled fittings and kept the existing hoses in place? This might work for my project but I can't seem to find this type of fitting out there...does it have a special name or has someone located these through a vendor previously?

Pete,

The "stock" fittings might be different from what you find for a replacement but will work. A good auto parts store or A/C specialty shop will be able to get you the fittings. The fittings are for a Sankyo compressor, not too special. What you will need is the type that has a "hose" clamp as opposed to a "crimped" clamp. Only by removing the hose can a crimped one be installed.

For the hose clamp style you will need to cut the old fittings off and the hose will slide onto the new one, then install the hose clamp. Not as pretty as a crimped one but it will work.

Did you break one?

Best,

Jeff

That sort of works if I'm running new lines...but I have the fittings off, and i'm thinking I could probably just be fine by replacing the ends and cleaning up the rest... they are a screw-type fit...

I was thinking I would hunt around for a bit and find this type of fitting in an online catalog buried away somewhere...but no such luck so far...I haven't found a single one with a screw fitting into the hose...here's a pic of where I'm at right now...

Pete,

If you are doing new lines just take them to a A/C shop and have new ones crimped on to the new hoses. I did that when I changed the dryer and it required an o-ring style fitting.

Maybe someone in England could source you the original style.

Best,

Jeff
