esprit turbo,x180,1988.i have white exhaust smoke at 4000 plus revs,idles ok but runs as if missing,or a cylinder down any ideas?cant see anything behind being followed by a fog.

Was running bad and smokey like that when i had a cracked piston.

Again though look to the coolant for bubbling in the tank/discolouring

and oil filler for mayo.

Definitely sounds like water is getting into one or more of the cylinders. If your lucky might be head gasket. If not cracked head or worse! Do a compression check or leakdown test to pinpoint which cylinder is the culprit :) Wayne 83 Turbo

Hi,

know this sounds very simple but soon after i bought mine i had white smoke and it would not accelerate at all well - one of the leads to the cylinders was loose.

Are you losing brake fluid, that burns white if it leaks past the master cylinder seals and gets sucked in to the engine from the servo.
