Waist band trim?

I have just recieved a role of waiste band trim and have taped it onto the car to try and remove the kinks from it being coiled up and shiped. Whilst I was putting it round the car I noticed that the back corners where it goes round the rear wing to the back panel destorts the trim. Just wondered if any one had any tips for me.

I am plowing on with the rebuild a a rate of knots and will be posting the new pics ASAP. I'm starting work on the car at about 6pm and finnishing at about midninght each night so not much time to spare at the moment. Mind you at this rate I'm gonna have to take a break to save some money up for the rest of the bits :)

I would say heat as well

Try boiling hot water that may help

I had the same problem when I had a G car (never did find out how to do it so it looked right)

Changed waistband trim on my car. New stuff appears to be made out of different type plastic to original. Tried heating with heat gun, stuff still after 3 years curls away from body of car where I cut it :) Came in Lotus bag from Mr.Mattys place. No choice but to keep trying to glue it back on(anually) :P Wayne

Thanks guys I'll give it a go.

Wayne you sure do know how to make a guy feel at ease with a job that needs doing. :)

Must get round to those pictures soon the car looks just a bit different since the last update.

Oh .............. I had a fight with the heater unit today. It was being rather stubern and wouldn't go back under the dash. After a few incouraging words that I will not repeeat, and a few cuts and scratches it now knows who's the boss. It is now cowering in it's rightful place and is no longer tacking up an acre of garage space :P

Sorry if i'm being obvious :)

I always pop the lights up on my Esprits when going in the garage.

I only have 1" clearance of each mirror, but the pods up really help

sussing where the corners are when you drive in.

Also, and it's a pain, but i line the car up so it goes in dead straight

with no steering required (had to push/manouvre a badly parked one

out of the garage once....).

:P

This pop the lights up-thing is very useful. I also use it when I take the car back to garage, it's a good way to "see" something from the car. Steering is quite stiff and it's quite pain job to reverse and steer the car in narrow garage :)

I got a brand new roll of this stuff from my Lotus specialty shop and I had to heat it up REAL good with a heat gun to get it to uncoil after being packed up for shipping. EVENTUALLY, I got it to wrap real tight around the corners.....
