I have just recreated the graphics for my esprit. I like the Esprit Turbo graphics but as I have an S3 N/A not a TurboI have changed the 'Turbo' to read Lotus.

Does anyone have a turbo model that can take a couple of measurements for me.

I would like the sizes of (see attached pic)

A) the length in mm of the word esprit

B) the thickness in mm of the outline in the word esprit

C) the width of the uprights on either the 'i' or 't'

The other mesurements I should be able to work out, the book indicates that the overall height of the logo is 160mm if this is incorrect then I would apprecaite it if you could tell me the correct size.

I will be cutting these out on a friends Vinyle cutting machine he owes me a favour for spraying he's daughters rocking horse (long story, but I'll put it this way recreation of a victorian rocking horse, to be made to look like old - not fun)

In case your curiouse these will cut from gold Vinyle which will match the gold hub on my wheels when I get them restored soon :)

If anyone needs to buy Esprit decals (S1,S2, Turbo, etc), I had my local Lotus specialty shop make some up for me. I paid through the nose, but now that the templates are done, the shop is selling them dirt cheap.

The shop has no website (Washington DC area) but if anyone is interested I can get you the shop's phone number.

I'm a graphic designer by trade or was, well kind of stil am ............ anyway, doing the graphics part is easy. Here is the pic that I thought I had posted. It is a slightly modified Series 3 logo. This is as accurate as you can get without having an original to make it millimeter perfect. I'm not knocking the ones on Ebay but they are just not accurate. This is not substitute typeface that resembles the original but a Vector tracing of the original typeface. I had to use a bit of artistic licence on the 'L', and 'o' but they would have been designed on the same principals as the 'e' and and the weight of the 'L' would have matched the 't'.

I did toy with the idea of some custom graphics but thought I'd stick with the original/period style.

I am UK based just north of London on the M25 I think one of members know the jusction quite well, one could almost say intimately :) Shipment from the US would be a killer but other US members might appreciate some details.

O.K. Troy here It goes. :) These measurements are taken from the Turbo Esprit logos on the lower rear wings on my 1983 Turbo. My car is a Federal Spec and the logos are slightly smaller than on the U.K./R.O.W. cars. The total lenth of the word Esprit is 258mm . The thickness of the outline on the word Esprit is 4mm. The width of the uprights on the letter i and t is 15mm. The lowercase letter height is 45mm. The total height of the letter p is 60mm(top to tail) The total height of the letter i is 60mm(inc dot) The total height of the letter t is 53mm. On the whole Turbo Esprit logo the top of the letter b to the bottom of the letter p is 115mm. If this logo is too small for your tastes ,you should be able to scale it up using these measurements Wayne :P p.s. I too was /am /sort of a graphic designer. I think this typeface is Microgamma bold extended(Nebiolo) Letraset

Thanks wayne your a star.

I had a quick play and it seemed a bit on the heavy side as far as the line thickness qoes I may reduce it a little bit. I'll take several different versions round to my friends some time next week and have a go. The Microgamma Bold was a bit to heavy but the Medium is very close to what I have on file. Certain letters are slightly sylised but it certainly is a good base to move on from. Having said that I had already traced the letters out in an illustration software :)

I am also gonna see if he has the typeface on his ingraving machine might be able to find a use for it somewhere :)

Anyhoo I'm of to get packed and head of to a Kit Car show at stoneleigh. We are driving up there in the Lotus 7 inspired car that we built. With no roof. no doors , and erm no screen it looks like I'll be wearing my crash helmet. At about 70mph+ you cannot breath and your face contourts into some really funny shapes :)

I'mm gonna see if I can pick up some of the bits I need for the Esprit.

Have a good weekend all :)
