Two lonely GT3s at Brooklands

Spent a great day at the Brooklands Airfield today to have a look at the Italian car show. (Will put some pictures on the page later next week.) Great weather and crap food as usual on these events. Lots of nice cars as you can imagine (except a couple of Fiat Bravos and Puntos which found it necessary to use up space on the exhibition car park).

My favorites Lamborghini Miura and Maserati Merak were among them. I have to admit that I admired in awe the fantastic sound of some of those beautiful engines. Clearly wouldn

Were they letting anyone use part of the old circuit?

Back in 1994 we had a project release party there ... the "lap" started at the base of the 1 in 3? test hill, went through a wood for a couple of hundred yards and then out onto a section of the banked circuit before dropping back down again ... wish I had some photos - Owned a TVR S2 at the time, so I wasn't worried about clutch or gearbox falling to pieces with nutter standing starts on the 1 in 3 hill!!

It was about the only time I scared our US project manager, the rest of the time she scared me!

Mercedes is building a huge (!) customer centre on the western part of the old circuit. They bought part of the track to turn it into a customer- experience-world-thing. Don

Hi Patrick,

I saw your car in the car park, looked really nice, and it was nice to see a Esprit there! Looking at the plate, I didn't realise you were local, should have popped over for a chat anyway, next time!

The event was much better than last year, although I think the burgers were the same! I was really surprised to see some many cars there, did you see the guy with the Diablo getting it sideways on his way out? After hearing the extreme braking he was luckly to survive that one! - that could have been an expensive pose!
