Aboyne Highland Games 2012

Recommended Posts

Some of you will already know about this via email, but I have been asked to see if there would be any interest from Lotus owners in showing a selection of cars at the 2012 Aboyne Highland Games on Saturday 4th August – just less than 4 weeks away...!

You can see what the games are about here: http://www.aboynegames.com. This is obviously not a car show, but two years ago they had a selection of old and new Citroens that were in the area for a Citroen weekend, and last year Grampian Transport Museum showed a selection of vehicles. These displays have proved a popular addition to the variety of attractions that the games have, and the organisers are looking to continue the idea, possibly highlighting different car clubs each year.

In case you don’t know where it is, Aboyne is a largish village around 30 miles west of Aberdeen: (http://maps.google.c...=en&sa=N&tab=wl).

There would be room for around 10-15 cars (if that many people are interested), and a mix of older and newer cars would be great. In an ideal world one of each of the following would be brilliant (but highly unlikely!). As such, any one that is interested would be welcome.

(I know some of the entries cover a LOT of variations...)

Seven (or Caterham etc)

Elite (58-63)

Elan (62-75)

Europa (66-75)

Elan +2 (67-75)

Elite (74-82)

Eclat (74-82)

Esprit (G-car – 77-87)

Excel (82-92)

Esprit (S-car – 87-04)

Elan M100 (89-95)

Elise/Exige (96-Present)

340R (00)

Europa S (06-10)

2-Eleven (07-Present)

Evora (09-Present)

(and if anybody has anything else..?)

The cars would have to be at the show ground around 9.00am and ideally stay until around 4.00, however you would be able to leave earlier if you wanted. The event generates money for charity, but they will be happy to provide one free entry ticket (£8 last year), and you are obviously guaranteed a very good parking space!

If you are interested in the above, or you would like any further details, then can you please get back to me via this topic or at scottmgibb(at)gmail(dot)com ASAP (ideally this week...).

Thanks,

Scott Gibb

Sounds like a great day out and hopefully the weather will be kind.

Unfortunately I can't make it that day as we have visitors from down south otherwise I would have attended.

It is also the day before the LEGS breakfast meeting at Perth Airfield (details still to be posted).

See you at Spittal of Glenshee this Sunday
