Oh No !!!!

Has anyone ever "threaded" the sump plug on a '97 V8 as in: Plug doesn't seem to tighten fully, turns forever and can't be undone either. Almost like it has been very overtightened (but it hasn't). Has anyone ever encountered this and if you did, how can it be fixed (or will the sump have to come out ??). Please help !!

I've done similar things! I've normally solved it by clamping mole grips onto the offending item and using a screwdriver to provide to outwards force to the mole grips while turning the mole grips ...

I did shear a brass sump plug off once too - I believe it had been overtightened and cracked which is why it was leaking and I was removing it in the first place. A stud extractor pulled that out with no problems.
