If you heard what this car recently changed hands for you'd want to shoot yourself.

Clearly the people asking don't realise quite what it is! :)

"What connection does Lotus racing have with Lotus Cars USA?"

:D

"manuals or other bits that go along with it or just the car?"

;)

"Has the timing belt ever been replaced?"

;)

Someone mail him to ask if there are any stone chips!

i mean, you could just buy one of the other only-20-in-the-world

X180R roadgoing track cars, cause they come up Soooo often, right?

;)

"Ever on the track?"

For crikeys sake!

Lince they were based on SE so vin is O.K. The seats look legit also. So few of these change hands the value depends on amount seller will take. Good Luck , any chance of a drive if you get it? ;)

Hi guys, I just signed up on this forum. My name is Brian and I own a red 88 Esprit turbo. I happen to know this X180 R and know a little about its past. I also know the guy who is selling and I know the service it just had.

this car is a 9 out of 10. its almost MINT. The only thing that peoplke say is wrong about this car is the fact that it doesnt have the original seats. The original seats didnt come with the car nor can they be located. the current owner bought the car not knowing much of the history of these cars. You dont want to know how much he paid for it, in fact, I talked him into it and said he would be a fool if he didnt get the car. If I had the spare cheese, I would buy this car in a heart beat.

its really nice and a 9 out of 10. I saw it last weekend and it is near perfect. anyone who gets this car will be happy. I have no affiliation with the seller and have no ties with it at all, other than me being a HUGE X180 fan and I really think this car is a great car.

I drove the old Doc Bundy X180 race car at Road Atlanta last month and it went like stink. the thing stuck like paint, even in the wet. these X180's and X180 R 's are rocket ships.

Welcome home, Brian!

Anybody who wants to see the car Brian drove and some other pics from that day, go to the main Gallery menu of the EFF (not the gallery within the forums) and click on images. Look for the gallery for this year's Walter Mitty.

Cheers,

KFM :)

This X180 R just had the timing belt, all fluids and hoses replaced a couple weeks ago.

the seats are not original but these mom seats fit like a glove. the carpet on this car is clean enough to eat from. its really amazing. no stress cracks on the car, but with 13 k miles, it wouldnt have would it ?

the front chin spoiler has a couple stress cracks, but the seller has another chin spoiler that goes with the car I believe. the only bad thing are the seats not being stock, but hese mom seats are very nice.

I am almost ashamed that I am not bidding on this car . as much as I love the X180 era, and that I know 3 of the factory drivers that raced these cars, I am kicking myself for not buying this car. My wife tho, she would have me by the short ones if I made a bid.

the wheels on this car are perfect. I really cant find anything wrong with this car. even the lower rocker barke ducts just ahead of the rear whelsl are perfect. one tiny knick, and I wouldnt event call it a knick. the yellow plastic tape is not on the rockers . this car is perfect for the money. I have not laid under the car, but there are a couple people who have mentioned that there is a rust spot on one of the bushing brackets, but , compared to the underside of my car, this is very clean to me. My car lived in FL for a while, and my car has some rust underneath, but this car is really in good condition. I have seen it under sunlight, and in the showroom, and I would have to say its near perfect.

again, i have no affiliation with the owner, seller, or anything like that, I just think this car is great.

( the current owner is in the UK this week. . He doesnt know any of this history of the X180 R, or the X180 race cars . he doesnt know anything about them. I had to fill him in. )

I just think this car would be a great buy.

Whoops I made a mistake, these cars did originally come with Cobra reclining competion type seats, not the MoMos that are in this car now. Hope someone gets the car who will actually appreciate it!
