I'm told that the only gaskets available on the S1 gearbox are the paper ones on the output shafts. When I fit them what should I use (if anything) to seal them? The bell housing is fitted with silicone - should I use silicone for the top cover as well?

Hi Paul,

outputshaft gasket must be fitted dry, the Loctite 518 or 5188 are very good to seal any alloy case and I have used  it, great stuff.

Thanks for the replies I'll see if I can find either of those products locally. eBay didn't seem to have anything reasonably priced.

 

I opened my gearbox up yesterday with it having sat in my garage for 7 years with no oil in it. It looked surprisingly good and all the surfaces still had a thin film of oil on them...

 

I'd like to flush it through before I fill it with MT90 - does anybody have any ideas what would be the best thing to use? I just want to clean it out.
