My S1 has a little pump to increase the lumbar support. I get in the car, pump up the backrest until I'm really comfortable and off I go. After a short while I notice that the support isn't what it was and have to pump it up again. I've obviously got a leak somewhere.

What are other members' experience of how long it stays inflated? If I have got a leak, where is the most likely place for it to be and is it likely to be repairable?

Thanks.

I too needed the lumbar support with my S1 - it's a great device.  In checking for the leak the easiest possibility to find is at the valve in the pumping bulb, if I remember correctly. Just wet the end of the bulb, press the support panel and watch for bubbles.  If the whole bladder is easily removed, the same approach as with a bike tyre should find it and a patch from the bike repair kit will probably fix it.

Incidentally I found the same lumbar lack on my recent Exige S seat. It was quite a bit of work to make something with the thickness and flexibility to feel right after a decent length drive, able to be adjusted up and down the seat and looked decent. Rubber based carpet underlay, Velcro and some offcuts from Lotus's very own alcantara worked out ok though - eventually!

When I had my S1 seats retrimmed I had the lumbar pad moved down a fair bit and found it much more comfortable.

It's easy to remove, if your removing the seat facings. It's how confident you are at removing them and re-gluing them back in.

Geeze, all this time I thought that bulb was for priming the carbs.
