Unable to break loss the allen bolts that hold the half shafts to the brake disks. First want to make sure counter clock wise is currect direction to remove the bolts/? (righty tighy - lefty lossey)

Should I use an air impack driver?

  • The air impact tool worked perfectly. Thanks for the input. Now just remove the A/C pump, water lines and motor mounts. I will start lifting the motor on saturday.

Air impact drivers might be difficult to get access with. I've always found that using a 3/8" drive allen key socket and a socket bar will undo them. I have resorted to jacking the car up on the end of the bar before now....you have to be certain that the key is well into the socket headed screw and doesn't cam out, but that way will provide more than enough torque to break loose the fasteners; and it's rather more controlled than an air impact tool.....
