thermostat replacement

HI everybody!

I was hoping i could find some assistance here, I am working on a friends 2002 lotus esprit v8, and hes been havign issues with it overheating. He wants to start with replacing the thermostat and go from there, My question is how the heck do i even take the thermostat out? I cant even see it! never worked on a lotus before, but it cant be much worse than anything else.

any help or pictures is appreciated! I havent found any information anywhere online.

The thermostat is at the front of the engine in a Y shaped casting with inlet and outlet top hoses connecting to it. 3 bolts retain the casting and there are a couple of O rings that will need replacing

Just done mine.

Takes about 20 -30 mins and make sure you use the correct Lotus 82deg C thermostat and also replace the "o" rings when the thermo casting is removed.

Refill the cooling system and bleed as per the Lotus workshop manual method.
