S4s Brembo specs

Recommended Posts

Anyone have the Brembo spec S4s? I just picked up a set of used Porsche C2 930 brakes from a friend for Free and I am going to fit them to my Esprit. I am trying to see if I can use the S4s bracket to mount these calipers as they are a radially mounted caliper, and I am sure Brembo has a lot of calipers that they use the same dimensions/bolt mounting locations for. The main thing I am looking for is the distance between the radial mount bolt holes. I measured my new calipers and they are 5.150inches(130.8mm) center to center, the caliper is 7" (177.8mm)wide and 11"(279.4mm) top to bottom. I have rotors from a big brake kit on my RX7 that are exactly the thickness I need and the diameter of the discs that came with the calipers, just need a bracket and hat to fit! Any help would be appreciated.

Artie, you painted your rear lights white ?

But why ?

Your new '02 rear look is nice though....

Wanted to see if I liked the 02 style lights, without buying them, figured worst case scenario I could paint mine and buy new ones cheap if I didn't like the round lights! I loved em, so I got the 02 lights. I will get the seats done this coming week and off to paint she goes....Front/rear bumpers and the light conversion sans V8 emblem. Hopefully she'll be back up and ready to dyno by mid Feb.! Then Brakes go on. I have a guy locally with a machine shop at home who's gonna help me with the hats and brackets for the brakes.

This has been one helluva year, lot's of projects and lots of progress. Went from a plain old turbo to full SE spec engine management, Stage 1 WC turbo/CC. Redid interior, new brakes, Timing belt, oil pump rebuild, New custom wheels, Secondary injectors/Boost controller, rewired harness for SE Spec ECM, New exhaust system, New Injectors, New ECM, New Brakes again, NEw Suspension, and the list continues!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will fit the new brakes asap, hopefully someonehas experience with these Brembo calipers and can offer dimensions on theirs.

It does but it's all undercover / raining atm.

Don't worry I get the silent treatment when asking questions to kit suppliers all over the world trying to get this project car finished, brakes seem to be a 4 letter word atm

Incidently I'm trying to find out about the S350 spec.

Hats I can't help much with as mine are all 1 piece rotors.

PNM play around with the brakes quite a bit, drop them an e-mail perhaps ?

If I can fit my dividers into the wheel tomorrow I can give you a rough idea of the bolt holes but without taking them all off I dont know accuratly.

Is this what you are looking for?

dsc004238tw.th.jpg

Why yes it is! I am under the distinct suspicion these calipers may be very similar or the same as the ones used by Lotus. The mounting hole position is key as I can just order the Lotus bracket and shim it to fit. The calipers I have are HUGE! This will let me run 12.75"(324mm) rotors! I'm sure I will have to play with spacing and such but am confident I can get them to work!

Would you be willing to do the same thing for width(whole caliper side to side) and length? I can have a hat made as I can pull off the old units and since they are a wilwood kit, the rotor and hat are separate pieces, I'll just pull the hat off the rotor, and have my machine guy make me a new hat for the bigger disc!

AWESOME, thanks punky!

Which disc ?

Brembos were 296mm iirc

Sounds like you've hit the floor running anyways :)

Trying to do something similar here but not having much joy sourcing the disk for anything under silly money and I dont fancy the drilled ones ! (crack)

You're gonna need to scrub that 'Porker' decal off though

Cheers! I have emailed JOhn at WC to see if he'll sell me some discs and hats! I will be using a much larger than 296 disc. I plan on bead blasting the calipers and painting them bright RED! I will have some Lotus decals made for them!!! I even considered powdercoating them yellow with Green LOTUS lettering!!!!! I don't see why I couldn't get these to fit with a little bit of effort. I have just come to the realization that the Wilwood kit I fitted isn't up to the task of my driving style! So these will do! Were the Brembo rotors .81"(20.5mm) or thicker?

Jonathan,

Have you looked at Colemanracing.com or any US brake distributors? I can get some 314.3mm rotors at 28mm wide for about $80Us each. These are solid(non drilled) vented rotors but need hats to attach them. Also you can check out USBRAKE.com for rotors.

Okay, seems the calipers I have are about 1.5" wider and about 2.5" taller, but the bolt mounting point is the same!!!!

That does look superb.

Onto the brakes, I have calipers now, mounting brackets blah de blah - I just need the disks + hats/bells.

The thing is I have had Sooooooooooooooooo many problems with parts suppliers and them going AWOL at the time of payment, not the right bit / ill fitting, no replies and extremely difficult to extract info from I am at the end of my tether really.

I could order them from some specialists who do the AP ones but they are drilled and not suitable for tracking imo (I can't afford cracked disks) plus the price some of them want for them is so far over the top for what they are. Finally tried AP themselves to supply the info and part numbers I need and there is also a local distributer for them they can HOPEFULLY sort me out for under

No, they were already fitted when I bought the car so not shure where they came from. The front arches need refitting though as they are slightly to far forward and stop the bumper.. err.. fender  from seating properly, but that will have to wait for the respray. Maybe next year

Punky

John,

I'm with you in the belief that Brakes are a 4 letter word. The set I did buy and fit were in my perception good quality and affordable....However, after driving the car for a few months to allow bed in, only marginal improvement was realized after this addition. I suppose the Wilwoods I put on would have been great for a show only car, but seeing as I like to drive fast and have some braking I was UNDERWHELMED! I will let John know that you are in the market for discs and hats too. Have you visited his website? He has 3 or 4 iterations of an AP kit.

Punky,

I see, I was curious as I'd like to fit these to my car as well, but am still trying to figure out what I want to do

ARTIE,

found a pic of my brembos, yellow. B)

Maybe helps in decision of paint.

Olaf,

Thanks! I did consider yellow too! These calipers are absolutely ENORMOUS.. I just heard back from John Welch at WC engineering and he will sell me hats and rotors. I'm waiting for a reply so I know how much he wants. Now All I need are the brackets!

Those yello brembos would look really cool on my green esprit, a complete Lotus colour set, nice. Can i have them? Would the orignal black be easy or what I mean is cheap to recolour?

You can recolour your brakes very easily, just lightly sand and clean the brake dust off, choose your color of spray paint(lacquer) and tape off that which you don't want colored or paint to get into. Paint the calipers then buy a new set of decals from ebay!
