windshield moulding

Recommended Posts

I have a 1986 esprit. it is missing the windshield moulding pieces. I am not able to find these parts as Lotus does not make these any longer. Any suggestion on aftermarket or where to locate these mouldings? thanks

Try Nick Warren, he buys and sells Esprits and parts. He might have some good used ones. His Email address is nw@kerridge.com

No luck in finding the original moulding parts. Does anyone know what the part looks like, i.e. what cross section? Can a newer Lotus moulding (S cars) fit the G-car windshield?

Just had my screen replaced by National Windscreens, they can still get the drivers side moulding but thats all, managed to save the other two although the quality is not quite there (a few ripples)

Apparently the Stevens mouldings will fit but you can only get the top moulding. You will have to get three and cut two to fit.

my windscreen needs replacing too, and i've done quite a bit of research. you're right that lotus no longer sells the parts, but apparently, the moulding profile is quite standard. most autoglass vendors have a plastic equivalent they can cut to size. i'm trying to source either a sample of this stuff, or the original part; so i can make reverse molds of it and reproduce the part in carbon fiber. if you obtain the parts you're looking for, could you please post very careful measurements of it before installing? if you end up cutting a piece off to fit, i'll pay the shipping to get hold of the scrap. thanks.

Ok as a few others already know the search for window trim has haunted me for ages now just like yourself Indiaskr.

Here is what I opted for after a very long search.

I also removed the capping rail trim and replaced it with a rubber U trim. The fornt screen has arrived today and my window guy is hopefully coming tomorrow. So I'll post pics then. The trim is an OEM rubber trim that the window company carries and to be honest I quite like it.

Looking good.

I agree it does look the part and looking at the Auto art 1:18 scale models they all have black trim.

I have the drivers side trim if any one wants a sample!!!

i'll take that sample trim if it's not bent up. as i said, i want to make a mold of it. i imagine when installed, the trim makes a gentle curve. i might need to prebend it before taking the mold. any thoughts on this?

Not long ago on the Yahoo S1S2S3 list they were taknig orders for parts/interest. Someone was going to make a batch of the stuff.

Don't know what became of it but here is the link:

I need to change out my windshield sooner or later so I asked for some moldings. Waiting to hear if anything comes of it.
