250 Cup optional sports filter

Hi there,

looking through the options list for the 250 Cup I can see the option of a "Sports Air Filter" for £120.

can somebody tell me what exactly this is? And what (if any) the benefits of getting it fitted would be?

Is this not just the TRD airbox, though I thought the 250 was already specced with this?

Can't just be a filter for £100+ can it?

It's just the filter. We put it on ours - dealer fit; saw it supplied before fitting. I believe the car comes from the factory with the standard one and it's just swapped out.

I expect it's one of those "if the factory sold the car with it they'd have to re-approve something" jobs... but there is literally nothing to stop the end user fitting one... or the dealer.

Just been quoted £170 inc vat for this? Does it sound right and is it literally just a drop in filter?

Sounds expensive if its just the filter element......A K&N filter element is less than £60 inc vat for the TRD filter box!!

A complete TRD filter box  kit with K&N filter is about £135.00

A TRD kit  with standard element is about £95.00

If that is the TRD airbox fitted then that's not a bad price. Its a bit of a pig to fit. Bending the bracket to fit is the worst bit.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, 

 

It’s a sport (red) version of the std one (part 3) it’s not the sports filter for trd box .. they came back and said lotus have recommended against fitting the TRD on my car (2019 cup 250) as they have seen a few engine management issues after fitting them. 

They have offered a sports red one for 15% off so £144 fitted . I assume it’s a pig to fit anyways due to wheel liner out and the air box clips ?

Don't pay £144 for a disposable air filter. A few of the guys on the FB Cup page paid for that upgrade as were very disappointed on what they actually got. They thought for that price it was the TRD Box.

 Buy the TRD Box with the cleanable K&N Element from Dave @ Seriously Lotus for £135.
