It's Sunday - time for confession Father

So then - my lovely specialist cared for S4 was taken out of the garage this morning to run Danny to swimming. Crunch into 2nd gear...... when it warmed up it was slightly better...

so whilst I'm in Worcester and he's swimming I pick up some more gearbox oil - wash the car - drive it home avoiding second.

this afternoon - beofre discovering the painter on the cherry picker doing the house is using the paint which wickes delivered late - and yes it's the wrong fking colour. I sneak off to the garage for some grubby secret time.

rip the gearbox drain plug out - and drain of a whole litre of black looking oil......

upon replacing this aforementioned oil with 3 litres - it's now changing gear much slicker and the second gear issue has gone.

its never leaked any fluids in the garage - I'm now expecting it to commence doing so

I just have refilled with Mobil SHC - impressed so far  prefer it to millers TRX i had in previously.   Reverse doesnt drag at all when cold and nice syncro action when cold and warm

Reverse was immediately better. To be fair I normally slink into 1st before doing reverse. But I tried reverse without doing so and it was fine. Second gear was also silky smooth.  It was only today it started to be shit

Lotus spent a lot of time and money testing to make sure they recommended the correct oil for the transaxle, you should be using that. The pressures & temps at the CWP can only really be dealt with with TAF-X or its replacement Synstran, you should get that in there ASAP.

Cheers @Bibs

Some synstran is indeed on order and will be stuck in there next weekend. I have no desire to be removing that gearbox no matter how quickly I can get it out .

At least for now there's the correct amount of oil in there - it'll serve as a nice washing oil before the other stuff comes. Won't be able to drive her today anyway - it's Mother's Day and we have the outlaws coming

Good man @swindon_alan. To be fair it's the same bloody price online as the stuff I bought in the car spares place yesterday. I just wanted to drop what was in there out and find out the situation. Glad I did now.

That's fine Barry, you can save her until Saturday morning when you drive her to Henley! :)

Mine looked like black coffee and smelt very strongly of cats pizz. More noticable was the missing 2 litres.....

been out to look this morning - no leaks ?? Now I'm worried ?

For the costs involved - it must be worth doing either yearly or every other year - not sure what the service interval is though.

gravy jug now washed and snuck back in the cupboard - need to invest in some pound shop plastic jugs for the garage

Just run Danny to swimming in the esprit - I love that car !!

get to the pool - the missus is with the youngest at the earlier training session. We've had a nice Mother's Day today - and I've been very thoughtful and good all day - job lists complete - I've even agreed we can move house (at some point). She's just asked if lotus do 4 seaters as that would be easier !! Where would I keep 3 was my reply  - get rid of that old shogun and the beetle and just buy one was her response.

anyone in the market for a seven seater 1998 shogun ? Or a beetle ? I'm off to search the interweb for cars......

S3 sat waiting my attention @cbclotus

I've been finishing everything on the house that isn't (or arranging others to do so while I'm working). I even mowed the grass yesterday after only being asked once !

Another week or two and the house will be done, may well finally have the barn consent sorted, clocks have gone back and I will finally say stuff everything else the S3 is getting sorted.

I think Danny might be a bit big now for the back of the Evora,  there's always the becoming more and more beautiful with age Elite and of course there's plenty of room in the back for your sparks kit. (I know of a plumber who used an Espada for a Van).

Alternatively how difficult could it be to extend a backbone chassis, 4 seater Esprit ???

Barry buy an Elite, Excel, Eclat. That's my plan when the new garage is built. Just got to convince Rick his Elite is only worth 5k :P

I can see PGA in the background. I was drooling over Kermit the elite - it's stunning
