We believe you, thousands wouldn't... I do still have the screenshot though, so any time you're thinking of selling the S4 at a bargain price, just let me know. B-)

Nothing obvious - starting to wonder if it was fractured when the bushes were done. It did a rather nice donught in the car park at the swimming pool last night - that might have assisted the process ?

Somebody been hammering at that lower link perhaps.

Obvious but looks like SJ still list them and probably the best bet for new if you're really stuck. Not cheap though. Is that guy in Marlborough still breaking those Esprits? He was popping up on eBay randomly but can't see him there at the moment.

Not worth starting anything now...🍺

I think so @eeyoreish - that busted side has had polys fitted - the other side hasn't.

im wondering now if they fractured it so didn't do the other side. It certainly wasn't cracked when I last looked

When you take the gearbox to bits, it'll also be worth doing:-

Clutch

Flywheel

Release bearing

Rear crank seal

Gearbox mounts

Gearbox output seals

Exhaust mounts

Translator

Oh, and maybe the charcoal canister.

Right hand rear hub

Right hand lower link

Right rear wheel bearing

You'll thank me further down the line.

Keeerist, Bazza.  You're more likely to find Robert Maxwell riding Shergar.  I know an individual who's been looking for one of these for some time...

The ABS sensors were an OEM only part Barry (left and right handed versions). NLA but SJ look as though they have come up with an alternative.

I haven't looked at the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) before or tried to match up a cross ref but will put it on my to do list. Does it have any markings or part numbers on it @Barrykearley?

For now it looks like SJ have them at £24.30 + postage + VAT yadda yadda or alternatively Elise Shop have them in stock for £27 mate:

Ah...found the VSS cross ref, it's the same part as the V8 crank sensor luckily! I've done the work on it before. Didn't remember it was the same. Yep, should be as cheap as chips:

Cross references:

Lotus part number: A910E6939F R /B : A918E6080F

The earlier 910 engine version is obsolete but the V8 one has direct replacements.

A910E6939F    Lotus factory part only. Not released to aftermarket    Sensor, Vehicle Speed (VSS) (MY 88 Delco fuel injection)

As in used on the Lotus Elise and Exige Series 1s as a L/H rear hub speed sensor:

A918E6080F

SJ sell them for twenty quid. However, if you want to go elsewhere then they are:

GM 10456555
WELLS     SU137
CARQUEST     71-4829
ACDelco     213-148
AIRTEX     5S1665
DELPHI     SS10089
ADVAN-TECH     2H8

Or:

GM 10457661
CARQUEST     71-4860
WELLS     SU1115
MasterPro     2-96055
ORIGINAL ENGINE MANAGEMENT     96055
STANDARD MOTOR     PC7
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS     PC7

I tempted fate...now my Esprit V8 IS in bits...(sob)
