Well - it made it - there and back to worcester swimming pool - stick that where the sun don't shine... @ian29gte

Now awaiting my buddy to come and rescue me with tools. Not sure if it's the battery utterly flat, immob shagged, feed to rear box or what

Yeah - needed some decent jump leads. The father in laws obviously do not work - I shall relocate them into the bin for him and get him some new ones in case I need them again

didnt bother to look any harder last night - but very obviously and can be seen with a DVM that there is no alternator love voltage being given to the battery. Another problem for another day

I thought you had a problem earlier with the battery and it not starting? Maybe it's the alternator after all?

The way your luck's running, it'll be a combination of the pair of them.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Last battery was fubard - gave up trying to charge it after two days on charge !!

new battery I think was the one I bought for the S3. It is not charging on the car for sure. Once jump started the voltage was sat at 11v measured across the battery terminals. So need to check the connections on the alternator next.

had a few mocking comments at the pool tonight - I can smugly ignore that though

When mine did that it was the belt slipping because the alternator was moving

Lucky sod!

I can't help thinking that life would be so much easier if you simply built a swimming pool next to your gaff, as most of the Esprit breakdowns seem to be connected to that specific activity.

3 kids - 11,13,15 all in different swimming squads and all swim competitively - not only does that cost more than esprit ownership but also takes more of my time ?

Nice drive out to Castle Coombe today - meal on the way home meeting up with the missus and kids in Gloucester who are at a swimming competition.

now back at home wondering why in Malvern my second gear has f@cked off without my permission! :wallbash:

all other gears peachy - no orrrible sounds - engage 2nd and no drive at all. Car dumped in the naughty corner of the garage to think about her behaviour. Guess that's the box coming out then

What

It's the clear correlation between swimming pools and Esprit breakdowns that's the cause. Ergo, stop going to swimming pools and all your problems will cease.

No, it's OK, don't thank me.

Hmm - dunno when I'm gonna drop it in the conversation with the missus it's busted again. She's gonna take the piss more than you will.

is this simple enough to strip apart at home and replace that 2nd gear and synchro ? Or does it need specialist stuff ?? After all the hassle I've had - I really am tempted to sit and learn
