Changing the speedo cable

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have an '88 Turbo with a broken speedo cable sleeve (down at the gearbox end). The steel cable itself is ok but it is the third one I have used as the broken sleeve keeps rubbing away at the steel and causing it to fail. I have got hold of a new sleeve but the original seems to pass between the body and the chassis so will not be easy to swap (it's the original one piece cable by the way).

The obvious solution (short of removing the body - no thanks) is to attach the old to the new and drag the new one through using the old one to guide it. However, if anyone has replaced one before any practical advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard
