Whats this part?

Looking for help... in the ongoing pursuit to get the perfect driving position with freedom for heel and toe i've had to remove the plastic cowling around the lower half of the steering wheel. This has made a good start but im finding I occasionally hit the edge of this piece of plastic that sticks out! Anyone got any idea if it has any importance before I cut it off! Thank You

I have no idea what the part is, but have you considered a RAZO throttle pedal extender, it brings the throttle pedal slightly further towards you, narrows the gap between the brake and throttle and once it was set up by back on track, it's brilliant at heel and toe!

For me, I'm just not too keen on the look of the RAZO pedals. Although you do raise maybe a bigger throttle pedal could be of benefit.

So you think it's safe to cut off?

Looking at Aruns posted images, I'd say yes.  Haven't got one apart here at the moment to check.  Cut the square bit off but keep the circular bit around the column.

It's simple enough to make a nice plain pedal extension in aluminium to either rivet on top of the existing one, or replace it.
