Leg shortening exercise

Recommended Posts

Hi All

After some information regarding different ways to help us tall people fit our legs under the dash board of these cars! Think i can sort the headroom problem out easily enough but wondered what wonderfull ideas you guys have dreamt up in the past.

Having driven my first esprit on wednesday, which unfortunately i do not think is the one for me, i very soon realised that unless i cut atleast 3"-4" off of the length of my legs, the chances of me being able to fully appreciate the car would be very limited. ;)

If any of you have gone down the road of leg shortening, i would be most appreciative of any information about how you went about the procedure to minimise blood loss. Also what tools would be required? I have bought a new chefs carving nife but assume this would be next to useless at cutting through the bone. ;)

All suggestions would be most welcome.

Cheers Simon ;)

Cheers 4 that link. Think i've looked at it in the past and had already thought about a GT3 or other competition bucket seat. Just wanted to know if any1 on here has actually carried any of these things out.

Still hope for me then that i won't have to cut my legs down....!! ;)

No way i'd let the other half drive, she not passed her test yet anyway. :D Saw subject cause i'm still having to drive everywhere even when she doesn't want to drink! Nothing worse that sitting watcheing the other half drinking coke when you want to get wasted but have to drive her home! :)

Wish i'd got smaller legs aswell wayne, it'd make this whole process alot simpler to digest. Its difficult to make a decision on a purchase when your not even sure if you can drive it! :)

Read somewhere that Lotuses Mike Kimberley is 6 foot 4 inches tall! I dont actually fit in the stevens Esprits (1991 SE) as good as I fit in the Giugiaros(1977 S1 and 1983 S3) :D

Thats kinda odd, cause I always fitted, just! in the Stevens models at the motor shows, definately from the high wing onwards. :D

The one i sat in the other day did have an amp mounted behind the drivers seat so i would have probably lost about 1" of leg room, but thats still not enough. Is the seat supposed to go right back and touch the fire wall?

The seat SHOULD touch the firewall....

G-Cars have shorter pedalboxes than S-Cars! Your height must be in your body and not your legs! :D:)

I drove an SE and needed to move the seat forward, which I never had to do in the G-Car. I also noticed that the footrest pinched all the 'foot-room' in there! The pedals are actually better spaced in the old cars.

Ditto!

I *was* looking for an S3 but a Turbo came up at a price I could afford (so I thought! LMAO)..... I significantly prefer the look of the Turbo over the S3 - imho it needs that body kit!

Lotus Esprit RS Turbo innit RAS!

I'm 6'4" and regularly have bruised shins, but I don't care! I managed to get a momo steering wheel with a flat bottom which aids entry (in my garage that's about 6" wider than the car) Thinking about getting some thinner seats. Has anyone fitted elise seats? or do they look lost in the cabin?

Removable Steering Wheels kits are also an option - a very easy one for the models lucky enough to have been made Momo fittings as standard.

I am 6 foot 1 inch tall, but excellent genetics have blessed me with short legs so I fit just fine in an Esprit :)

Hey Wayne does that mean your knuckles drag on the ground? Does it hurt?
