  1. Hi Guys, I'd like to flush out my coolant and add new antifreeze, my question is how do I burp and bleed the system after, is there a bleed tap on the radiator? Thanks
  2. Thanks Giorgio, I think it is a 43D I will have to check. Is it best to find an electronic kit for my distributor or a completely new electronic distributor? Thanks
  3. Hi, Sorry for the dumb question but what electronic ignition distributor do I need for my 1979 S2? Somebody has fitted a points distributor and I'd like to get it back to it's original spec, I've been told a Mini Metro electronic distributor will work? Thanks Charlie:)
  4. Thanks for your reply. Yeah I was advised to fit one as the car (only just bought it) came with two ramflow air filters of which the cam case breather pipe ran into the back of the filter this in turn was creating a build up of oil in the filter, not good. I simply did what you already said and ran the pipe to the floor, a respected lotus dealer told me to run it to a breather tank of which would be a good solution, so bought the tank fitted it and had the oil come up out of the dipstick as you experienced so I put this question to the forum as I thought it was not installed properly. I've already run the pipe back down through to the floor, think this will be the best bet until I find a better solution, any other ideas? Thanks.
  5. Hi Guys, I have been advised to add a catch tank to my S2 Esprit and would like to know how to install this correctly so that I breath the system whilst maintaining the vacuum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Charlie;)
  6. Thanks, not as expensive as I thought but not cheap:)
  7. So just how much did a new S2 cost in 1979? People have told me as much as the equivalent to 100K in today's money, is that true!
  8. Unless I have the size wrong, trouble is the car has just gone to have a new cambelt so can't check the size until its back. I even phoned Yokohama and they say that they don't do that size, all I can say is that I must be imagining the size, but I'm sure it says 225/60/14!
  9. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a particular set of tyres for my S2 they are Yokohama A-008 225/60/14 but I can't seem to find them anywhere, if anyone knows where I might find a set I would be most grateful. Thanks Charlie;)
  10. Dude you're gunna love it, the mechanics are simple too so from what I can tell they are fairly straight forward to maintain:D
  11. Will do some photos soon, going to pnm engineering for a new cam belt and various other bits Saturday, but once it's back I'll be free to really get out and about:D
  12. Just picked up my new toy a 1979 S2 and after a day of prep and cleaning went out for what was really my first proper test drive. Well I have to say I was just grinning all the way out and all the way in, what a car! The noise, the acceleration, the handling the retro styling the driving position just spot on, spot on I tell you! Best car I think I have owned based simply on the fact that in makes me grin from ear to ear, this car is a keeper, love it:D
  13. Thank you very much, I thought the cones looked a little damp. I'll source a factory set-up if I can. Great advice:D
  14. Thanks for the reply Dodgy, will look into it:)
  15. Hi, Just picked up my new S2 project and was wondering what is the best thing I can do for air induction, my car currently has two air sponge cones on it, is this the best solution? Thanks, Charlie;)
  16. HI, Does anyone have an idea of the original interior colour combo for the S2? Or was it a case of owner deciding what ever option of colours they wanted? Thanks
  17. Just bought an S2 1979 Esprit, can't wait to get my hands on it! Needs a bit of TLC but was in generally good condition, going straight in for a new cam/timing belt, full service, carbs tweaking and away I go. Will need to upgrade the brakes, and tidy up some of the electrics but all in all can't wait to get hold of it:D Haha, just my alter ego, "Shall we synchronise our watches"
  18. Wow, that's inspirational! Sort of car I can only dream about, if it ever comes up for sale...
  19. Cheers Kimbers, I've had a look in the for sale section but will have a look in the Esprit section as you suggest. I don't expect this to be easy but need to get the ball rolling:) Thanks again.
  20. Hi everyone, I'm brand new to the forum and this is my very first post. I'm looking for a series 1 Lotus Esprit (to buy) and would like to know if they are still possible to find, and at what sort of money you need to pay for a resto project, a running car or a full blow resto? I hope this is not too cheeky of a question but I'm new to Lotus (not to cars) but need to know what to look out for when buying? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
