    I am replacing the alternator on my 1995 Lotus S-4. I have marked and disconnected the wires (after I disconnected the battery) and removed the nuts on the attaching studs. The pivot stud appears to be too long to slip out of the brackets and alternator. It is blocked by the firewall in front and the engine block in the rear. The fastener for the tension is too long to come out as well. I would truly appreciate some direction and perhaps some suggestions as to how to proceed. Thanks
