  1. Hey guys, strange one, because my passenger side fuel slap works every single, even when open you can keep pushing the putton and the solenoid activates every time. but the drivers side one just stopped working.....surely both motors must be on some sort of relay fuse, so the fuse cant be blown because the passenger side is working. i took the attached to the button out and put them back in again and all of a sudden it worked once, but then never again, even if i refit the wires to the button again....no solenoid sound at all when i try to open it. ideas????
  2. the money i would pay for that green car.....dude you sit on a gold mine give it ten years. What an awesome car
  3. Thought so. But why would it energise the fans at 80, shouldn't it only kick in at 90ish? It must at least be partially working to detect temp at all? Could it be the wrong part? Not sure if it's relevant but just had it in for tanks change to aluminium and also water pump rebuild, is there anything involved in that which could cause this? Didn't happen before
  4. do stainless steel brake lines actually help in any way?? they length of the lines we are talking is 30cm, how much flex can there be?! I have some, i got a r&b set incl clutch hose which is installed and actually working marvels helping me change gears normally but i havent done the brake hoses yet...of two minds about whether its worth it? nothing much in the forums on this?
  5. ah for me it hasnt i need to clarify as my above is incorrect, when i turn the car on the fans dont enrgise straight away, they come on when they car hits 80 degrees and then just never turn off....is it a temp gauge sender? (someone send this ONLY sends temp to the VDO gauge is this true?) or is it a problem with the otter switch thing?
  6. Hey guys, my fans cut in the minute i turn the car on and at any temperature...not normal.. any ideas? the temp sender was just replaced but cant be faulty because the vdo dial shows the car heatings up and cooling down..
  7. yea same thing happened to me, it was just empty of gas. mind you, when i refill it, it only lasts 6 months...cant find the damn leak. it doesnt energise to protect the compressor, as the gas is also lubricant
  8. hey guys. my esprit has 57k miles on it and was brought to low sulphur australia in 2009. it had done 47k miles in the uk up until i brought it here. is it fair to say that my engine doesnt or doesnt have nikasil wear? Given it did most of its 47k UK miles in the 1990s when presumably sulphur was high? I have read different things saying sulphur was low in the uk in the 1990s and others saying it was high. either way, i had the car dyno-d recently and it had 147kw at the WHEELs and bibs says lotus figures were at the flywheel, which means my cars probably has 155-160kw as it should....again depending on what people thing the diff is between wheel and flywheel dyno figures!!
  9. Hey guys, years ago my jack punched a 5cm hole in the underside of the side skirt, 10-15cm back from the passenger side front wheel arch. It was very small and didn't crack further so I left it but am now having it repaired. The guy reckons he needs access to "both sides" of the hole, ie, inside the side skirt itself. He proposes then to cut a hole in the front of the side skirt, the part which makes up the front wheel arch (the painted black part), so he can reach into the side skirt and do the repair. Because access is better in the front wheel well, he can then patch the hole he cut in the wheel arch part of the side skirt. Does this sound like a good plan?
  10. Yes but the Evora looks as boring as hell. when considered against some of the other currents offerings, it looks a bit naff...the evora could be a much, much better looking car. that said the Exige V6 is a stunner...
  11. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone knows the A/R ratio of the UK domestic 88 Turbo? I imagine its pretty small given there is nearly no turbo lag on our cars (for the era, and even now). also, If you were to change the turbo compressor blade out for a lighter ceramic one (i wont, but just out of technical curiosity) what would the effect be? I understand a lighter blade will of course spool faster, but given the housing would be the same, would the peak power be the same, just arrive earlier? Would that make the car accelerate faster earlier but still give identical overall acceleration times type thing?
  12. lol, the point is more weight than anything else, and i held a few lap records in the day here and there so i do ok
  13. Hehe. Soooo removing the wing will theoretically then increase my accelerations times by removing drag....O_o?? Problem with that I then I have holes in my boot .... It may not be a problem though, if anyone is interested I'm looking into getting the bonnet, rear hatch deck and both doors remade in carbon fiber. With the whiz bang 3D printing these days making the mould (the expensive part) is now affordable, I'm seeing the guys next week. Total cost might only be 9-10k. Anyone want a copy?? I will paint over mine in original pearl white, I just want my esprit to weigh the 1290kg it's meant to, rather than the 1400kg wet tare weight I discovered it actually is... The headlamp pods might be able to be done in carbon fiber too, as well as front and rear spoilers but I'm hesitant there given they are rubberised impact structures.
  14. Yea I had a retard moment I actually knew about that switch, must have turned my brAin off that day. The she was simple, the little black plastic piece in the door itself the switch pushes against is broken and just needed replacing the switch works fine now. No second switch on uk cars there are no seAt belt buzzers on domestic versions.
  15. hey just wondering if the SE spoiler does much at legal speeds. When does it actually start producing downforce?
  16. hey guys, the interior light only somtimes comes on when i open the drivers side door. it always comes on if i open the passenger side door which leads me to conclude there must be a switch insdie the drivers side latch mechanism, any tips on how to fix? It must obviously still work but is loose or something i imagine.
  17. Did anyone get anywhere with this id still love to find out an actual stiffness number in Newton meters.
  18. yea good point. all these cars are pretty spectacular race cars, i would presume then that save for stupidly light caterhams and mclarens about 3.5 secs is probably a reasonable limit for a full size car. (caterham...no really a car haha... )
  19. yea good point....the LM wasnt really production but the standard mclaren was, didnt have any aids did it? was 3.6 or something i think?
  20. Hey guys, I was wondering, what would be the theoretical limit for a 0-62mph time for a car which is manual, rear or front wheel drive (not4wd), with no driver assists (traction contro), eg the Esprit. Any TVR is another good example, or an early lamborghini diablo. I would presume that given the inherent time necessary in a manual to change gears, with no launch control, traction control etc etc would probably make it impossible to get below about 4.0 secs, as simply increasing power leads to diminishing returns due to the lack of launch and traction control. I had a look around Zeperfs and Automobile Catalgoue, it would seem cars like the TVR Griffith, 1990 diablo and the esprit 350 sport or 300 sport are probably about as quick to 0-62mph as you can get....accurate???
  21. Why would anyone want to retrofit the 97 cast iron clutch housing wouldn't it weigh a ton? And hey Danny do you know when australia stopped importing esprits by any chance? Or does anyone know? The latest model v8 I've seen here is 98. I'm in the market, the lone 350 sport ain't budging, the private import final edition in blue has disappeared and I'm still waiting.... O_o
  22. last few lines of this say the gearbox was modified? http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EGuides/ETechnical/V8_ECU.html also confirmed further down the page here? ive read it in a few places, that the 350 sport had durability changes to the gearbox, strengthening. I think i saw it on the old Derek bell page back in the day http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/british/131846-has-anyone-here-owned-lotus-esprit-v8.html
  23. I have read otherwise ? Word seems to be there were some minor durability changes.
