  1. Just browsing tyres and came across this. Wonder if the performance is the same as the regular PS4S? https://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/michelin/pilot-sport-4-s-acoustic/275/30/R20/Y/97/m?tyre=38674815&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpa6fqf7_8AIV0O5RCh3XrA_oEAQYAiABEgJA2_D_BwE#featuresOuter
  2. Thanks. Side wall height on 275’s slightly bigger than 255 (7mm higher).
  3. Sorry to revive an old thread.....has anyone ever fitted either of these sizes on the 19” rear wheels: 265/35 or 275/35 I the case of the latter, the overall diameter would be just 2mm greater than the 20” rear wheel, fitted with the standard 275/30 size. So no speedo issues. I've always thought the 255/35 are far too narrow on the 19” rear wheels, they look massively stretched although the PS4S does look to be a fair bit better. Lotus must have chosen this size purely to minimise sidewall flex. I guess in theory, fitting say the 275 would give a little more rear grip, but also with a little bit more sidewall. Upside would be slightly better ride quality though, with the larger sidewall (7mm more than the 255's). Any comments would be welcome, and if anyone has gone for the 275 size on the 19” rear wheels I’d love to see some photos and hear your experiences.
  4. Choosing not to buy a car after doing lots of research, asking lots of questions and seeing it does not make someone a time waster - it simply means it wasn’t the one - in my case it didn’t feel right for a few reasons, all personal. It was a good car.
  5. Yes, in my case, with Barry's car I really wasn’t sure about the colour so didn’t want to pay for temporary insurance without seeing it etc. In the end I did the right thing because, for me at least, it was almost a warm/gold grey which is why I decided against it anyway in the end (the following day). Undoubtedly it was well priced though and as we know, @windymiller is enjoying it 👍🏻
  6. I agree about moving on. My reply wasn’t intended to be “having a go” at Barry - I was insured against 3rd party risk (on my policy) which I explained, it’s just that Barry wasn’t happy for me to drive it unless fully comp - which nobody would have unless buying the car I guess. I do get the risk to others and am sorry to hear about your family member. I think it’s probably the norm (from my experience, I’ve probably bought and sold over 25 cars privately in my time) to allow a short test drive once you’ve established the guy isn’t an idiot, but appreciate that everyone is different in this regard. Barry - send me some eggs and I’ll send you some hobnobs - chocolate ones 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
  7. What was disappointing is that you assumed that I was going to drive it like an idiot. I’ve had 8 Lotuses over the last 20 years and I always drive carefully, with “eyes on stalks” and according to the conditions. I would have driven it extremely gently, as I explained, unlike the way you drove it that day - on very wet / sleet laden roads, on Pirelli’s - known to be interior to say Michelin PS4S in the wet. It’s your car and you’re entitled to do that, but I thought it was way too fast for the conditions personally. You probably have a different view, that’s fine 👍🏻 I decided to think about it, despite the lack of test drive, for a day - but you sold it to someone else the next day before waiting for me to come back to you as we had agreed, in fact you didn’t even tell me you had someone else viewing it. After yours I drove 3 others without the owner requiring insurance for a test drive. I think sometimes you just need to get a proper feel for how experienced the potential buyer is with these cars. Other than 3rd party cover on a policy, which is standard on most, I think it would be very unusual for a prospective purchaser to insure a car in their own name specifically for a test drive..... Anyway you’re very popular on these forums so I’m sure everyone will agree with you regardless 😉👍🏻
  8. Well if you had let people test drive it to assess it perhaps that wouldn’t have happened .... 😉😉 The comments on here are going to be interesting once the chop-top photos are added....!
  9. Thanks for all the replies - really helpful - seems it’s completely normal then 👍
  10. 59 plate NA here, with Tech Pack - so has the Alpine double DIN head unit, and it was also specified with 2 Tech Pack upgrades - Alpine Imprint audio (so has a subwoofer) and the Alpine reversing cam. I'm considering replacing the HU with a Pioneer / Kenwood with wireless CarPlay etc. Will I be able to plug the subwoofer and reversing cam straight in, and will they 'talk' to the new head unit properly? The one I've been considering is this. Much cheaper than the equivalent Pioneer, clean looking, and gets good reviews: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352872075734
  11. Nipped out yesterday (it was nice and dry) but got caught in a shower. Not an overly heavy shower. When I got back, left the car out for a bit then put it away in the garage. Noticed 4 or 5 pools of water forming under the car - mostly under the wheel arches. I know the arches are made of an annoying fabric type stuff - causing the mudflap brackets to corrode over time - but I wasn't expecting quite that much water to come out of all four corners, after such light rain! There's a bit from halfway down the car as well. Normal?
  12. I bought a pair of these but they seem to be too short, by about 20mm. So the boot doesn't open as high.... Seems what is needed is some that are 425mm long when fully extended. Has anyone come across any others that might fit the bill ?
  13. Can’t believe how much prices have gone up. Wasn’t long ago that a couple of early 400’s are sold for low 40’s, and also two GT410 Sports at low 60’s.
  14. £26k - £28k seems to be the entry point now for early NA’s. That’s a good chunk more than a few months ago. Good to see values on the up, though I do wonder whether the launch of the Emira may lead to owners chopping in their Evoras. So it could become a buyer’s market in a few months time, to an extent. As an NA owner obviously I hope not (and have no intention of buying an Emira - or effectively renting one via PCP or PCH as many people seem to opt for nowadays).
  15. I was able to get the 4S in 225/40/18 from Blackcircles (and 15% off the rears as well), came to £559 which I thought was excellent for all four.
  16. Thanks for the replies on this. Had the PS4S fitted, no issues with the valves, and what a great tyre 👍🏻
  17. Thanks Bibs, whereabouts would the dimple be on the wheel? I have them off the car now ready to take to the tyre fitting place.
  18. I’m having a set of PS4S fitted to my 18/19 wheels today. Couple of questions... TPMS valves - what’s the best way to ensure the tyre place doesn’t cause any damage? Also, I’ve noticed the PS4S tyres have red dots on them. Should they be aligned to the valve, or opposite? I’m sure I’ve read something about that somewhere....
  19. Great news Eddie look forward to seeing it. Like the colour combo. How did you find the IPS? Keep it nice and I’ll buy it off you in 6 years 👍🏻👍🏻🤣 Meanwhile.....
  20. Only 4 photos, none of the rear or off side, and a seriously brief description. Very odd.
  21. Sure, here you go. I removed it last night, took about 5 seconds.....just pull up at the front edge closest to the windscreen...
  22. That's fair enough, I've just bought a black leather offcut for £9 and some spray contact adhesive, I guess we will see how good my trimming skills are 🤣
