  1. Hmm, not so cheap for V6S sizes! £266 per rear? I can see these being fine on the lighter S1 and S2 cars, but my experience of 888s on a car of almost identical weight to the V6 (albeit FWD) is that they don't last long...
  2. Handy to know guys, I was going to post the same question! A mate of mine has just booked on to the same date, so I might join you all.
  3. So, new tyres time. Trouble is, every site I look on seems to either only have fronts or rears, but not both, or lists different models of tyres for front and rear, like this: Front (Direzionale): http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&details=Ordern&typ=R-216609&ranzahl=4&nichtweiter=1&Breite=205 Rear (Assimetrico 2): http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?s_p=Pirelli-P-ZERO-CORSA-Asimmetrico-2-265_35-ZR18-97Y-XL-LS&details=Ordern&typ=R-223642&cart_id=36519052.110.28043&ranzahl=4&Breite=265&Quer=35&Felge=18&Speed=W&weiter=10&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=10&sort_by=Lable_DEX&Transport=P&dsco=110&sowigan=So&rsmFahrzeugart=PKW Are these both correct? They both have the LS designation, so I assume so, but seems odd they have different models for front and rear? Or have I missed something looking at my current tyres!?
  4. That's meant to be changed every 12-18 months from what I remember of using it, just in case you're not one who enjoys brake fluid changes! Takes in more atmospheric water than normal fluid. Also bloody expensive. But I never boiled it despite getting the brakes hot enough to melt the paint off my wheels.
  5. Interesting, I'll ensure this is done at my next service next month! I guess may be worth getting the fluid fully changed whilst they're at it?
  6. Hmm, at over £1100 for a set of Trofeo Rs, I might stick with the Corsas! http://www.seriouslylotus.com/featured/pirelli-trofeo-tyres-exige-v6-352 That said, a set of the Team Dynamics wheels for £780 would give the option of ZZRs for known dry days, as well as keeping the diamond cut OEM alloys away from the rigours of the track... Hmm... ZZRs aren't that much more than a set of Corsas (£670 on the 2014 prices listed by LoTRDC, guess they've gone up a bit this year? http://www.lotrdc.com/tyres-avon-zzr ). Can't find anywhere that sells ZZRs other than LoTRDC! Mind you, if you're willing to go down the 215/45 route for the fronts, you have options - a full set of Falken RSRs from Camskill is only £351 (yes, all four!) Kumho V70a is also available in those sizes, which I found good on previous cars (possibly not as cheap as ZZRs though).
  7. Right, 6000 miles inc. two trackdays has seen to the P Zero Corsa rears (if not the fronts as well), so it's time for new boots. I don't generally drive the car in the wet if I can help it, but I don't have a spare set of wheels and if I do get caught in a downpour or end up on a wet trackday, I'll have to use what's on the car. I've been quite impressed with the Corsas (previous experience of "fast road" tyres was a melty mess on track) and would happily use them again, but I just want to check there isn't a better option out there before committing. Trofeos look like they wear too fast for my taste, I suspect ZZRs are similarly soft and/or not great in the wet. I'd like something more sticky than Corsas on a dry track of course, but I think it's better to be realistic about the weather... Any other options people are aware of?
  8. I met a chap called Craig (I think, sorry if it's not your name mate!) at Donington on Sat 18th July, I promised him a session out in the V6 as he's about to purchase (may already have by now) an LF1 from B&C. It never happened as every time I went to his garage he was out on track/just getting in the car and towards the end of the afternoon, it looked like he'd already left. I just want him to know if he's reading I wasn't being an ignorant bugger and breaking my promise!
  9. I've got a mate who passed a static test at less than 95db then failed a drive-by with a reading of 104db (many engines sound very different under load of course, e.g. VTEC which doesn't engage in neutral!) I'm just a bit worried after someone said a standard Boxster fails Oulton these days.
  10. Hi all, just about to book a trackday at Oulton and note that it is now 92db drive-by (and 105db static as it always was - but what's the point of testing that with such a low drive-by!?) Can anyone who has recently done Oulton in a V6S with a standard exhaust confirm that it passes the drive-by OK? Ta.
  11. Thanks guys, that's helpful. In your video Jonny, was that slide at 3.12 a combination of steering lock and power, or just from lateral load/lifting off? This is also my first mid-engine car, so I'm hoping I don't get caught out!
  12. Thanks Bibs, that's what I thought it did. Looking forward to trying it out, must be a bit weird at first to just bury the throttle regardless! Special Lotus day sounds very interesting too, I was considering Hethel as a LoT trackday in the summer, but will hold off booking in case this comes along.
  13. Hi all, it's my first trackday in the Exige at Cadwell on Friday and I was wondering about Race mode for DPM. This is the first car I've owned with any kind of electronic stability assistance, so I was wondering what to expect? I've seen the videos and from the outside, it looks like you turn on Race mode and the car basically meters out the power to the perfect angle of slip as you accelerate out of a corner. Is it really that simple? Is it possible to over-cook it if you just stomp on the gas, or will the car just reign it in to the point where cornering speed is maximised? I assume it does nothing to help you if you lift-off mid-corner? I ask as the manual doesn't really say much about Race mode other than suggesting it turns off the traction control, but that's not what I understood it to really do from the reviews of the car I read.
  14. Yeah, apparently so! My experience of them is that they are "fast road" rather than track pads, but like you, others have said they've been fine on track and at about half the price of RS14s, I'm happy to try them! I've got them in my possession now, quick delivery from Seriously Lotus. Hopefully the current ones will last a while anyway, but thought it best to have them to hand in case not!
  15. Cheapest/only place I can find the OEM DS2500 pads (other than a dealer) is Seriously Lotus at £129.54 per set (front or rear). I'm going to get a spare set ready for changing ahead of my first trackday, as I don't want to be caught without brakes if it turns out they get munched! Is anyone going to tell me I can get them cheaper elsewhere? Otherwise I'll be ordering them soon.
  16. My experience of water injection was on a rotary - it worked to keep intake temps down, but I lost power noticeably when it kicked in. I don't know if this would be the same on a piston engine. This was with water, not meth. I certainly got through more than 5L on a trackday too!
  17. Thanks all. It unexpectedly rained today (very annoying after washing the car Sunday...) and the wiper was utterly useless to the point of dangerous as I drove home in the sun with a fine spray regularly coating the windscreen. The Bosch AR24U appears to be intended for BMWs, does that sound right? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-AR24U-Wiper-Blade/dp/B009E9EXO2
  18. Despite having covered only 5700 miles, my wiper blade seems to be utterly useless. I've searched a fair bit but haven't found a V6-specific wiper blade available - are they the same as the S2? Also, having seen an uprated wiper arm on one site, does anyone know if such a thing would be of benefit, or is my miserable wiper experience quite unique?
  19. I have a similar situation, as I want to wire in my dashcam and a DAB unit (separate from the head unit). If the wires aren't there behind the grommet, if someone can point me in the direction of an easily-accessible 12V wire that is switched by the ignition, that would be handy!
  20. You're a genius sunshine, that's great. Now have to decide whether to do this or stick with the windscreen mount/wired in to the loom down the A pillar route I've used in other cars.
  21. I knew I'd forgotten something as I typed that first post... yep, towing eye, a definite requirement. Can't believe there isn't a non-destructive option for fitting one!
  22. Ah ha! £804.24 for the set at 2014 prices then. Many thanks.
