  1. Warmed up at idle how much vacuum should there be at the MAP and the fuel PSI regulator? Ernie
  2. Thanks for the reply, I don't know if i can get a thermostat here in the states for 82C . Would a 160F or 180F work, or do i look for one from a foreign car. Cant find anyone with a ECU to try, I have a friend that's a AC delco dealer to get me a ECU($85) so I hope it works. Ernie
  3. Sanj Thanks for the photo's they were great I don't think i would have found it with out it. Replaced it today also with no luck she is still acting up. I am gonna change the ECU next. It seems strange that after the check engine light comes on and goes of several times during my 7 mile drive to work. Freescan finds NO REPORTED FAUTS. The ECU is supposed to remember the codes for a long time or until the ECU is reset? So ma by it is going bad? What does everyone think? Ernie
  4. [ My 93 has been doing something really close to what yours is doing. I get in it cold let it warm up a min or 3 drive off. It seems to run fine until it gets up to 70 to 80 deg. C then it starts breaking up stumbling i put my foot down it will only build .5 bar of boost. Check engine light come on sometimes but not every time. When i hook freescan to it and drive every thing looks fine then the 02 sensor starts reading rich and it stumbles and breaks up. When the check engine light comes on freescan locks up until the light goes off. Free scan starts back up i hit the trouble code button and it said no reported faults. Every time this happens I stop and pull the spark plugs and they are jet black. I an interested in what your plugs look like. I have changed MAP, fuel psi regulator, coils, spark plug wires, temp sensor that the ecu reads, and the 02 sensor. Next Ill be changing the ECU when it arrives tuesday or wednesday. Ernie
  5. I have been looking for the oil temp sensor for a while now, does anyone know where I can find it? I also found a cross reference guide that said i could pick one up from summit. The # i found is no good anymore but they have several models listed. i need to know if i get the one that goes to 250 or 300 deg? Talked to a mechanic the other day that said I would have a water temp sensor that goes to the gage in the dash. I should have temp sensor on the block somewhere that would go to the ECU to help adjust the fuel mixture when the motor get hot. I have found the sensor in the water neck in the front of the motor. Anyone know where this other sensor it located or do we even have one. He told me if this sensor went bad it could work fine at lo temp's but get to middle of its range and stick full ground telling the ecu to add lots of fuel to cool it back down. Sounded like the may be my problem. Looking at all those parts makes me want stuff!!! Bigger injectors, big inter cooler, free flowing exhaust system, and a turbo.!!!! Or ma by trade it in on a V8 and get the kit from PUK esprit racing ) Ernie Hillard PS what would be the pros's and cons between my 93 and a 99V8???????
  6. I cant believe no one has replied to this post. First thing to check would be the MAP sensor and look for vacuum leaks. But you say if you turn it off it runs fine for a bit and starts messing up. So in thinking a MAP works or it doesn't so rule that out(i know it should be heat sensitive). The 02 in not sure if it would run fine get hot and read wrong? Freescan is a really big help with that kind of stuff. I would remove the BOV, and reset the ECU. Let it idle for a few min. then drive it 20 to 30 miles and see if it fixes itself. If not check the spark plugs and see what the look like. That will tell you if it is getting to little fuel(lean) or to much fuel(rich) . I have just bought a new MAP, 02 sensor, two new coils, and a fuel psi regulator and, some other stuff trying to get a similar problem on my 93 SE/s4, idles great and runes fine for 10 to 15 min of driving when the motor will start missing and fussing goes into safe mode of .5 bar max , and if i clutch it rev the motor above 5000rpm a few times it will go back to high boost mode. but it will rev out in only on gear ma by 2 before going back in to safe mode. Every time i try this it comes back to the shop with fuel fouled spark plugs. so a new set plugs go back in (usually AC#4's) I ordered a new in box ac ECU today should be in Tuesday!! eager to try it out!!! 7. I haven't checked compression or leak down, I will do this as soon as i can. How much compression should it have? I will open the throttle and let it pump the gage 4 hits or until it stops building pressure? I know everyone does it different. Thanks for the help! Should i get some more freescan info for you and anyone else who wants to look, I've made a ton of changes to the car trying to fix this maybe something will show up? Ernie PS what are some opinion's on me trading my 93SE in on a V8 Esprit??
  8. Sanj I replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the line to the T over the weekend. I even took the sharter valve out of the fuel PSI regulator and hooked a gage to it. Looks like 45 to 47 psi idling. All 4 plugs are fouled black every time i try to drive it. Next i will get new coils and wires. Ernie
  9. Artie SE is fouling spark plugs. It will run fine for a little while, then seems to go really rich with fuel and foul spark plugs. Not sure if it is going into a safe mode on the ecu and fouling plugs or what. I have changed MAP sensor, 02 sensor, fuel psi regulator, battery, and a ton of spark plugs. I will change coils and plug wires soon. Where is the best place to get wires, or who's to get? Anyone think of anything else to check? Ernie PS: Travis EMH manual??
  10. I went to my local parts house looking for some plug wires with no luck. Anyone know what they cross reference to? I tried a quad4 HO with no luck.
  11. I have been having some trouble with my 93SE, previews owner said he had the car boosted to 330hp. I think from reading that means it has a chip in it. Question is can i remove the chip and run the car to see if fixes my problem or will i have to take one chip out and replace it with a stock chip? I did not get a stock chip with the car. Ernie
  12. I and getting error code 41 with my 93 se, looks like 41 is the crank trigger. Anyone had problems with this in the past? Where can i find the sensor on the motor? Ernie
  13. Here is another up date. Anyone feel free to step in and help! I installed new MAP sensor, and 02 sensor today with no luck. I ordered the manual for freescan earlier today maybe this will help. Exhaust is black smut ted up spark plugs are black smut ted up, and i seem to be getting black smoke out of the exhaust when it is acting up. Ernie
