  1. Though if they could give the option to have your car wired with a slightly higher than absolute bottom end bargain basement spec of speaker that would be helpful. The head unit is almost irrelevant when the part that produces the sound is so poor... Make it an expensive option (then folk will believe it must be quality!) but at least give it as an option!
  2. Thing is as you said, you're not fussy about music in the car. Los of other people are. I can say the stereo in my S1 is shockingly bad compared to the probably not high spec system in my skoda. Not that i can hear it most of the time as the valve is stuck open on the 2bular... It wouldn't be a difficult thing for lotus to spec up an actual premium system as a cost option for the Evora. Pointless in an Exige/ Elise but it is expected at the level lotus are moving in to. Anyway i expect now they have Geely's backing there will be a reskinned version of Volvo infotainment (hate that word) in the next Evora.
  3. Yes, I replaced the bottom door card fixings as i had the old screw type and sealed the caps in with silicon shower sealant so they should be ok. Also resealed the badly stuck on door curtains at the same time, the combination of which cut down water ingress by maybe 80%. I've been considering the passenger side waist seal as it doesn't actually touch the window in the middle section! Should there be any way for water trapped at the bottom of the door seal (as in the OP) to escape/drain away or is it inevitable if it gets that far it will build up and spill over the sill...? I thought that might be the case, thanks.
  4. Thanks! Oddly, the pre-MY12 seal has also been updated/replaced, by another part number (& £13 more expensive before VAT than the MY12). Which to go for, I wonder is there actually any difference between them...
  5. I park with the nose higher (& passenger side slightly higher), the water accumulates at the back end of the passenger door seal enough to spill over the door sill and soak the rear carpets. I now have an outdoor car cover. I would love to know if there was a later revision to the door seals (post early 2011) with better drainage or any benefit to replacing the seals, nothing appears to be obviously wrong...
  6. Photo of my outdoor cover doing good service through the snow and ice in the last couple of days. It's been brilliant through the winter so far, quick enough to put on and off and no issues with the paint. The only pain is the extra time cleaning the car before it gets tucked away each time...

    Evora GT430

I predict the Evora will lose in the final summing up on engine sound, not having a 9000 rev limit, interior plastics and the indefinable quality of German engineering. These are after all what matters most in a magazine who's strapline is 'The thrill of driving' these days...
  8. It should and does manage itself i expect. There's no real reason to use the timeclock except that when the charger showed a fault (from what i believe was damp given it hasn't happened again since i sealed the cable connections) the fault didn't clear until the unit was restarted. If the unit was restarted the fault didn't always come back and only in the maintenance phase so by using the timeclock at least the battery will be topped up. If I'm away for a month with the charger on continuously and the fault crops up then i could come home to a randomly dropping window and soaked carpets. It doesn't take long for the ctek to run through the first 4 stages to the maintenance phase.
  9. I had a problem that the O-rings in the connectors (I have a C-tek 2.5m extension lead between the charger and car) failed and damp got into the connectors causing an error which meant the charger stopped charging. This caused intermittent problems with the windows raising and lowering as the battery charge got low. Drying out the connectors and wrapping in self-amalgamating tape cured this. I also put the charger on a time clock so it only charges 6 hours a day which appears to be plenty.
  10. Hopefully they emulate the approach of the new Alpine rather than Porsche... 4 cylinder turbo is probably inevitable in the Elise but hopefully not in the Exige & Evora.
  11. There probably isn't any difference, sitting in my 2011 NA on Monday I'd say the steering wheel is a good inch or so to the left of the seat centre. I have to tilt my head left to make the steering wheel line up with the cowling. I'd always thought something felt odd when driving. You'd think that would be one of the basics when you start designing the interior, are the seats in line with the steering wheel...
  12. Brings the improved front and rear styling onto the rest of the range which was inevitable and imo a good thing, presumably the 400 will be facelifted next. Rationalizes the naming slightly as well. For those expressing outrage think of it as a mid-life cycle refresh rather than a new model
  13. Thanks Ben. Ah well. Back to plan A of finding a good trimmer in the SW.
  14. Can you tell more about where you got them, I am looking into re-covering my Oyster leather seats as they're unsurprisingly showing some wear after 50000 miles...
  15. Mine has been pinged on our local moaners facebook group for similar. Just for pootling through at a very sedate pace. But then I am running a 2bular, where the valve has stuck in the loud position and it growls and barks no matter how gently I tread (I think due to a period of lack of use through last winter after we had our second sprog)...
  16. Same question from me, do they do the full system or just the back box? I looked on their website but no lotus information up yet.
  17. My fog/reversing lights have the old silver surround (slowly wearing off), as do my main outer clusters so they'd be a mis-match with the black surround of new lights. But at this rate I'll get a long enough list of jobs to make it worthwhile taking the bumper off - change the reversing lights, adjust the reversing camera, sort out the change in shut-line width running down to the wheel-arch (assuming the fit of the bumper can be adjusted)...
  18. @Bravo73 looking good, the GRP lights are MOT legal? Now if only they would do matching reversing/fog light...
  19. Thanks, that's one job I'll be leaving for a while then!
  20. Does anyone know is it possible to adjust the angle of the reversing camera? At the moment I have a fine view of my number plate filling half the screen and have to peer at the extreme top corners to see any cars coming when I'm reversing out of parking spaces... I've had a cursory look at the outside and it seems solidly fixed so I imagine probably not without taking the bumper off?
  21. So, to follow up, thanks to the nice chaps at swlc, window regulator removed, water poured out, unit dried out, green contacts cleaned, regulator tested and replaced. Sprayed with some form of water repellent and sealed to prevent further water ingress. No new parts needed. The window appearsto be working flawlessly so far. For info i was told that lotus had 9 regulators in stock as of 2 weeks ago when i booked the car in.
  22. Thanks, I should have been more specific as they gave that away in the video. Presumably the non- track parts are also south Wales but i didn't recognise where. Looked quite lovely, as does the car...

    Evora GT430

A new shape to the door sills in the ali tub for easier access to the 400 onwards is the first that springs to mind. Not sure there's any other major changes.
  24. Not cheap... oh well, I'll get on to swlc tomorrow and see when they can take a look. Hopefully the part's not on back order as the window's dropped another inch today. Having to get creative with the duck tape to cover the gap...
