  1. Yup - you are just up the road. We live in Coin 40 minutes inland from Malaga. Should you fancy a meet if/when you come out, I am up for it! Richard
  2. Enjoy your Spanish trip. Should it bring you anywhere near Malaga and you want to hook up for a few hours - let me know rjossDOTirm@gmailDOTCom. I have an earlier 2008 Exige 240S - pale shadow of yours of course! Richard
  3. GREAT NEWS - SUCCESS - I have managed to get my CDL working from the key fob again. If you are going to ask me how it is a bit confusing but I think I have the answer - embarrassingly simple. I had tried again with replacing the batteries in both fobs, disconnecting the battery, and a zillion combinations of door locks and fobs - without any joy. The locking button on the fobs just sounded the alarm instead of locking the doors. However, here is the kicker. Because I had first put the car on charge and then messed about with connecting and disconnecting the battery both from the forward terminals, I had only temporarily replaced the cover over the terminals and screwed it down finger tight, just enough to hold it in place. Obviously this is not sufficient to completely depress the alarm sensor that sits under the cover. So the fob was sounding the alarm as it thought that something was still open - in this case not the doors or boot, but the terminals' cover. So now all is working as it should. Many thanks to all those who helped with suggestions. Trying the CDL switch on the centre console was the main clue as when that worked I realised it was not a CDL failure or a sync problem.
  4. Re charging the car - I was a couple of miles from home when I took delivery of the car off a transporter. It would not start, so I don't see what else I could have done to get home? 😉 As to your other point - hey Bibs, you're the man!. I never even knew that switch was there (my excuse errrr. hmmm.... only had the car two years ehe) So, OK, the switch does activate the CDL - locking and unlocking the doors. However, after locking and unlocking a couple of times from inside the car, I still cannot lock the car from the outside using the top button on the fob as it just sets off the alarm as per previous posts - three "beeps and light flashes". Am I any nearer now? Thanks again. Richard
  5. Hope it is OK to bump this - getting desperate and had no response anywhere.
  6. Hi all - have asked for help on other forums but nothing concrete yet. Issue: I had some work done on my Exige at Lotus Madrid - including the long overdue oil line recall, new tyres and a software update. When the car got back (on a transporter to save mileage and costs of the trip) the battery was partially flat. Lights etc worked but would not start. I jump started it and got home where I locked the car with the fob and put the car on charge. The next day I was unable to unlock with the fob button. The alarm kept going off in threes every time I tried to open it. However,I could see through the window that I could disarm the the immobiliser OK with the middle button and the lights flashed once for that. Eventually I was able to get the doors open manually with the key in the door locks. I can now disarm the immobiliser and start the car OK. But any attempt to lock or unlock the car with the fob button sets off the alarm for three blasts and the door buttons (both up at the moment) don't move. Any attempt to open the doors without the immobilizer disarmed first, sets off the alarm permanently unless I hit the middle button to disarm the immobiliser - this is the only thing that will cancel the alarm. I have tried disconnecting the battery for an hour or two, but no change there. So my question is - is this a problem that could be solved by syncing the key again with the PIN - seems unlikely as the key will disarm the immobiliser OK? Other than that could someone help with another solution. Also re PIN numbers - the only likely number I got with the car (Gulf model, purchased in Dubai and imported to Spain) was a tag with this number: 0379 hand-written on it. Could this be a PIN number - have my doubts if the PIN sync process involves turning the ignition on and off, corresponding to the numbers - as what would the zero entail? TIA - Richard
  7. Bibs - just an update. Will Wright has ordered the parts to do my oil line recall - so all is good. When it goes in for the work, I will get to scout around and see what is available. Thanks again for the link. Richard
  8. Well - sought of. I contacted Will Wright by email. He confirmed what you said - namely that they are in the final stages of preparing to open. I explained that I needed the oil line/cooler recall undertaken. He said he would copy Ramon the workshop manager in on the email traffic. They would check with Lotus what parts were required and the exact procedure, and get back to me. I, in turn, sent him the official blurb on the recall and relevant website links etc. Since then, nothing. But I guess they are pretty busy with other things. I though i would leave it a few more days and then ask for an update. I will let you know the outcome when I get anything more concrete. Thanks for your continued interest. Richard
  9. Thanks so much - I will email him in the next day or two. Great help. Swing by Malaga any time and lunch is on me
  10. Wow - now that is exceptionally good news . The car has only done a couple of thousand km and I would rather not put another 1-2000 on the clock, let alone the driving, fuel, hotels etc. I would be very grateful if you could update me as and when you have more news, or else pass on a contact address or website to track their progress.
  11. Thanks for the link. Actually, I did try them but my understanding is they don't do Lotus any more. They hung on for a bit with the Toyota engines but that has all gone. Thanks anyway
  12. High Mario - nice to hear from someone at least nearer to my part of the world (Spain). I hope you are able to get your dream car. I live in Coin near Malaga and I have a quick question for you. I have a 2008 Exige S240 which never had the work done for yje general recall about the oil lines and union replacements. I have been trying to find a Lotus dealer who could undertake the work for me. I cannot find a dealer in Spain nearer than Barcelona which is 1000+ kms from here. The other alternative is to drive the car back to the UK to have it done. I would rather avoid both these options. Reading your post made me think of possibly having the work done in Portugal. It is a bit closer and my wife would also like to visit Porto for a few days anyway. Is the dealer you talk about called Lotus Portugal, actually in Porto itself? If so, do you know if they have a proper workshop and can do warranty repair work? Look forward to any info you can give. Regards. Richard EDIT: PS - just found out that there is a brand new Lotus dealer in Madrid which would be a better option - only recently opened (late 2017). They may be a bit more enthusiastic than your local one. I will see if they can do the work. This does not stop us looking at the possibility of visiting Porto - let's see. Also here is a picture of my car!
  13. philcool PM'd you for some advice - if you could check your mail and reply. Ta Richard
  14. No idea but I am so excited that I will overlook the wheels issue. They look great to me!
  15. Sorry - not at all familiar with the ins and outs of Exige wheels. I have never even seen one "in the flesh" as it were - not too many where I live in Spain. All I have seen of the car so far is the picture posted above. The car is coming from Dubai by sea (where the owner lives). The UK dealer is only acting as a third party escrow for the sale. Are you saying that - from the picture above - it looks as if the wheels are standard "Y's" rather than forged? If so, I guess that is what I am getting (I don't even know who the owner is and have not spoken to him). I think what I see is what I get in this instance. Not sure the dealer will/would know either.
