  1. Though it does look like a good value vs Sport 380... Is it just as loud so the whole #trackandback fuss is mainly for those lucky enough not having to bother about the noise tests or sofa racers?
  2. Can't agree more on Evo>Scoobie. Though to be fair, direct competitor to Evo is STi. Then it is a bit more equal. WRX lacks LSDs, which must be very easy to notice in the snow.
  3. Mik, caravan in tow is hilarious, can imagine some people being shocked by it. Even the roof rack on the Evo is a bit of a contentious issue for many. Baptiste, it looks like that V was rather good fun in the snow. I am missing a bit snowy roads in the UK, it used to be very fun to drive on the first day after the heavy snowfall back in Ukraine. Pretty much no snow in England and AD08R year round.
  4. Weight, cost and no real need in a very good grip conditions.
  5. I suppose it should also be not too loud... Who do I pay the deposit to?
  6. Max torque and bhp are pretty much always reached at different RPMs, with torque at lower RPMs. What you get in the outputs are the maximum figures and these are most likely at different RPMs before and after the changes. So you will have, for example, torque0 of 380Nm at 3,800 RPM, power0 of 340bhp at 6,600 RPM; then torque1 of 420Nm at 4,100Nm, power1 of 370bhp at 6,900 RPM. Which means you cannot just compare the numbers with the simple equation. Power is primarily the product of boost, AFR and ignition advance. Normally it is much more interesting to see what changes between the setups and how does that affect the torque (and consequentially power) curve, not just maximum values.
  7. I lived in Ukraine till the end of 2012 and roads there are frequently covered in snow (extreme case below), so winter tires are a must for at least 5 months every year. It was more than enjoyable to drive it in the mountains for skiing trips, turning skiing trip into a driving event. It is probably the best car there is for this kind of conditions and I fully agree on the "unstoppable" description.
  8. Those are some really nice cars, your TME looks amazing, Jonny! My fiancee's father still owns blue VI, which is with him since 1999, and having mine for 10 years I can fully how people get attached to these. Also fully agree on IX - CP9A and CT9A are two quite different, but very Evo platforms. CZ4A, despite actually being faster (near stock), is very different car and never impressed or excited me that much. Bibs, that hail storm looks like a proper 2.0T 4WD weather - I've always been amazed how these cars can persevere through pretty much any weather and road conditions and always deliver great driving pleasure. Once I get myself an Exige and make my way to the meetings, I'll have to show up in an Evo at least once.
  9. To be fair to them, they claim max power at 6,700 on the website. Would definitely be interesting to see a log and also what happens once it is hot (I guess it should be possible to log AFR, timing and boost with OBDII - should give a good indication if anything changes from normal temperature to properly hot).
  10. Hurray! In every group of people excited about great cars at least some must have or have had an Evo (or GT/WRX/STi). My precious is below. Fingers crossed some time soon she'll be augmented by a nice Sport 380, hopefully with some good solution to make it pass the noise tests for the trackdays.
  11. Hey there! As suggested in the other thread, introducing myself. Victor, live in London, happy driver of the absolutely loved EvoIX (red, largely stock engine with ~350bhp, proper brakes and suspension) for the last 10 years both for normal commute and trackdays. As Evo is getting older, am now looking for a new exciting car and Exige Sport 380 seems to be a rather appealing option.
  12. Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. So at the moment, it seems to be the following situation with options for the exhaust that can be used in the UK trackdays (e.g., static noise test normally in the range of 98-105db) - listed below. Any opinions and suggestions are very welcome. Bell & Colvill exclusive Quicksilver solution (at the moment the only confirmed option for Sport 380) - lighter than standard and also lighter than titanium (6kg total weight, mix of steel and titanium), targets getting the car to under 105db static (reported to be 101-102db static), expected to be available in late April; design may be a bit debatable if it is identical to other Quicksilver exhausts Seriouslylotus custom exhaust for Dave's 360 Cup (perhaps can be adapted to be useable in Sport 380) - similar weight to standard, targets to pass 90% of the noise restrictions in the UK circuits, reported to be 89db drive by 2bular Track exhaust with silencing add-ons (not available for Sport 380 yet) - highly praised quality and performance, reported 98-99db static and stated to not being louder at higher revs Lotus Sport (not available for Sport 380 at the moment and not clear if will be available at all) - reported 93-96db static Bespoke exhaust options, most likely can do whatever asked about, but unclear how well
  13. Thank you, Dave! Do you by any chance expect to have a quieter exhaust solution for Sport 380 in any foreseeable future?
  14. Thank you, Jokke, Lee and Jonny for the comments - this is very helpful. 107-110 rules out pretty much all of the trackdays that I am aware of in the UK. That is a shame and pretty much defeats the purpose of the car for me. Is that with standard non-titanium exhaust (I assume titanium is even louder)? Is there any option to make it quieter, ideally to under 98db at static? Much clearer on the suspension now. So what I understand now track pack Nitrons are largely equivalent to Ohlins R&T and probably better set up for the car from the factory; next step up is Ohlins TTX at £6k+ and need to be able to actually set them up properly (which is most likely well beyond my abilities). Fully confirms the logic of track pack being a no-brainer for the trackdays use.
  15. As I am becoming more and more interested in buying Sport 380, there are a couple of topics where I've failed so far with getting sufficient understanding of the preferred choice for me. Perhaps advice from people who have likely already faced the same considerations would be really helpful. Background - for the last 10 years I am happily driving EvoIX which I bought new at a time, it's used as a primary transportation mode as we all as for the trackdays (mostly Castle Combe, Donington, Goodwood, Silverstone, Bedford - mainly determined by being within +/- 2 hours drive from home). The car is largely stock power wise (~350bhp), with mostly stock exhaust (super quiet at 84db static), upgraded brakes (Alcon mono6 343mm) and suspension (Ohlins R&T with 8kg/10kg F/R springs, anti-roll bars, all the polyurethane bushings, etc.). With all of these changes, it is reasonably fast and very "alive" car (which is also to be kept). The intention with Sport 380 is to get a new car that would be even more direct and fully usable for trackdays. I do understand that change from 1,485kg front-engine four-wheel drive sedan to 1,100kg mid-engine RWD roadster/coupe without power steering will most likely be very exciting from the driving pleasure point of view, but also want to make sure I am not going to lose characteristics that I like about the Evo. 1) Exhaust - I am really used to a very quiet stealth sounding car (typically there is more turbo whistling from the Evo on the straights, than any other sound) and would really prefer to be able to pass all the noise restrictions on the trackdays. Looks like 98db static and 87db drive by would make it totally safe. As I understand optional titanium exhaust definitely pushes me out of these limits, and most likely standard exhaust is also too loud. I've seen a few topics where possible solutions to this were suggested (Seriouslylotus below, as well as 2bular silencers - http://www.2bular.co.uk/exige-s-v6/trackday-silencing), however, I could not identify clear conclusion on the standard exhaust noise levels and also if it is too loud, what are the options to preserve access to the trackdays 2) Suspension - with the Evo I went all the way from standard suspension to the current setup through different shocks, springs, adjustable shock mounts and wheel/tire combinations. It was a really educational process and I am very happy with the current setup. I understand with Sport 380 standard suspension is very good, optional Nitrons are even better and further upgrade is Ohlins (with less difference to Nitrons as compared to Nitrons vs standard). What I could not find is the model of Ohlins to be considered as an upgrade over optional Nitrons - is it R&T (which is priced similarly to the optional track pack) or TTX (as used in Cup R)? Would be great if someone could kindly shed light on the sequence of suspension solutions for Exige V6, ideally with a brief comment on what changes from one stage to the next. Any comments on the real need for adjustable anti-roll bar in Sport 380 are also very welcome. Thank you in advance for sharing and hopefully, I'm not asking overly basic questions with answers already posted somewhere, where I did not manage to see them. ,
  16. I've cracked slotted Alcon 343mm 2-piece disc (on a much heavier car than Lotus though) in the first session of the Goldtrack trackday at Goodwood. That was somewhat disappoinitng to say the list. +1 to changing these to slotted.
