  1. Thank you both for responding. It shouldn’t rust as the manifold is made from stainless. However I made the decision to remove the wrap as I was concerned about the heat at idle, never mind the increase when the engine is under load. I felt with the heat it could potentially affected the life of the turbo charger as well as having the potential to heat the manifold to a point where it looses its strength. I just didn’t think it was worth the risk.
  2. Thanks for your reply. The question I’m asking to really badly worded, so please accept my apologies. What I want to know is, with the exhaust manifold coated and wrapped would it be normal to glow red hot at idle or could it be a sign the car not running correctly such as the ignition timing being out? I understand that coating and wrap will keep more heat within the manifold and out of the engine bay but this seems a little excessive to me.
  3. Hi all, I’m just looking for a bit of advice. I have a friend who is doing some work on my Esprit SE which involves fitting a SS ceramic coated exhaust manifold I bought from eBay. I’m fairly sure it’s the same one that P.U.K Esprit racing used to sell in Germany. (See pics below) The exhaust manifold has been wrapped then installed. When the car was warmed to check for leaks with some gentle revs. It was then noticed part of the manifold that’s exposed (not wraped) could be seen glowing red hot, even at idle Is the car safe to drive or I’m I likely to put too much heat in the manifold and deform it? I was wondering since that bit is exposed it that causing that section to heat up because there isn’t any wrapped there. I really appreciate any advice and expertise offered.
  4. Thanks, I’ve signed up for updates on the LEGS page already, not sure if i’ll make the the June meet though, just need to see what happens with work but I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I’m in the newish housing development off Eastern Access Road, you’re more than welcome to stop by for a coffee/tea and chat about cars if your passing by. I must admit I think I’ve spotted your car before in Asda and admired it, looks gorgeous in Black.
  5. Not the best start to ownership I agree but not the worst thing that has ever happened as when I collected the car it’s driving so much better. New gearbox, clutch and rebuilt gear linkages at both ends to name some of the work done.. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that.
  6. I bought the car from a dealer in Kent at the start of last year. On the drive home it suffered a catastrophic gearbox malfunction. The car then spent most of last summer in PMSC’s getting a replacement gearbox and a load of other bits sorted/replaced. It resulting in an eye watering bill which was thankfully covered by the warranty supplied with the dealer. It then spent the winter in my Garage hibernating and has reasently just come out to play with the better warmer weather 😎
  7. If you insist 😄 It is a Highwing so I personally feel it’s the least photogenic Esprit out there.
  8. That was me. I was on call for work and got bored sat in the house on such a nice day so I took the car for a blast around some local roads. I have to say that made my day coming over a crest and spotting another Esprit coming the other way.
  9. Hello all, Finally getting round to saying hello, I’m the proud owner of an Esprit SE. I’ve had a few sports cars over the years but this has always been my dream car. It been an absolute delight owning and driving my childhood hero and I’m looking forward to attending some of the local meets over the summer (depending on my shifts) and getting to know a few of you and seeing your cars. Luke
