  1. Glyn Hi I see that a few years back you had issues with the gear selector. I was unable to get reverse even after new translator bearings at the rear., I then took the gear stick out and found this . Missing pin and worn bush. Do you have a diagram of how this supposed to be set up .

Thanks 1988 Stevens Esprit Carb turbo. Translators are on the left hand side of the gear box looking from the back

Hiya. There is a diagram here that may help.

The plastic bit on the side is a nylon bush, and they do wear. I actually made a new one for mine out of a material called Vesconite which is low friction and harder wearing than nylon. I think I have a spare somewhere. You can buy those new though still from a few places.

It's held on with a machine screw with a round allen type head, so it looks like yours has worn away on the inhibitor. You may need to snap off what's left of the plastic and get some mole grips on it, then replace the screw. I can't remember the size of the screw I'm afraid as I just had one handy that was correct, so didn't measure or order a new one. It looks M4 though. You shouldn't need to adjust the reverse inhibitor plate.

My alignment is still not spot on. The front is right, it just needs some fine tuning at the back, but it's hard to get exactly right.
