Cheers @DaveC72. I have read Bibs' long term tests as well as done a fair bit of reading things on here, LotusTalk and Pistonheads as well as watching a fair few videos on  YouTube. Also just been speaking to someone I know who owns an Evora Launch Edition to see what his views were on it.

I have found my first Evora to test drive this weekend - an S IPS with the three packs. Looking forward to seeing what it is like to drive. Only slight concern with this one is that I believe there may be limited service history with it.

Looking forward to the test drive review 🙂

The car is 8 years old so not sure what sort of warranty would have been given on a car of this age, it would probably be an insurance policy. To reject a car within 30 days it needs to be not roadworthy or unsafe. The dealer will say a car with a fault is not necessarily a faulty car and don't think Lotus can be held responsible for a fault on a car of this age.

    Hey All!

You can reject a car for much less, provided you have given the dealer the opportunity to resolve the issue(s) and then, if they have not been sorted you can reject the car under the sale of goods act.  Its not linked to the cars road worthyness at all.

My sister-in-law did this when she bought a used Nissan Note.  It was 2 years old I think and constantly squeaked like it was an old banger.  The dealer did very little to sort the problem, but did get the opportunity.  I went down to the dealer with her and we rejected it, with a letter.  Amazingly they tried claiming of not having heard of this before, but I very quickly called their bluff.  14 days later refund received.7

So Clive - have a look in to this, its not limited to 30 days either, it does get more difficult after this and I'm sure grey areas will creep in that need to be thrashed out.  It sounds to me like you're giving the dealer every opportunity to resolve the issues so you've certainly got a basis for a rejection if you so choose.  In terms of the amount, it will unlikely be 100% now as the car has had some (albeit minor use) so again something to thrash out.

I'm going to guess this is the dealer you told me about 😞  I'll certainly be very wary of them then in my dealings with them.

Bibs I take your point I am not critical of lotus in any shape and don’t expect anything from the brand

my gripe is with dealer who I believe knew about the leaks as they eluded to that in the long conversation

I am fully prepared to invest addition money in the car I expect that but initially I purchased the car from dealer believing I would get better customer care and even a little respect ?

i can’t see any clear signs as to where the leaks are emerging everything seems ok and intact ? Central lotus technician said he couldn’t spot anything hence I will take car back to them to assess it and of course pay for this !

i have tried to search the service notes and even the thread on the boot leaks but can’t find them again can anyone provide me the above ?

Water takes many routes.  how about using a bit of glitter in some water and pouring it over controlled areas?

Could it be coming up from underneath?

Very nice that one! I’m about 10 weeks from having the funds cleared so really not rushing but that will get looked at properly if it’s still around nearer the time 😎

Welcome and good luck with the search.  With the very tight supply of used cars I'd strongly suggest working out what you want then telling several of the larger dealers - often cars will come in on PX and be sold to waiting buyers without being advertised.  If you can be flexible on a few things then you will find something sooner but if you decide to hold out for a low mileage yellow NA under 30k you may have to wait a bit.  If it's not going to be a daily driver then mileage will be less of an issue - Evoras wear well so don't worry about mileage worry about condition.

We've a monthly meeting at Newlands Corner about 10 mins from B&C and regularly have several Evoras along, so feel free to drop by and chat to other owners while you're looking.  It's every third Sunday of the month and info is in the SLEGS regional forum.

Thanks - sounds like good advice! I might make that meet next month, sounds like a good idea, I’ll check SLEGS out for details!

  4. Thanks!  I'll definitely be taking my time, as I want to get one that works for me - its not going to be a daily driver so I can wait for the right one no problems.  I've started reading plenty already and I'll most likely go through a dealer to make sure as much of the known issues have been addressed such as the gear linkage and footwell leaks etc etc.  I'm about an hour from B&C in Surrey, theres another specialist about 30 minutes from me a main dealer just outside Southampton - which is where I take my Lexus so they already know me there, and being Lexus you really get treated like Royalty!!

I do have a soft spot for Yellow, followed by Ardent Red and then Grey...!

How do you find it getting in and in tighter sparking spaces? Is there a good technique?!!

I do indeed. I need somewhere to store dirt all the time and they do the job perfectly!

Hi!  Where did you get the side skirts from?  I think they really bring out the lines on the car even more, especially with a front splitter

  6. Hi All!

I've been a Lotus fan for many years and driven a few Elises during that time, but I've yet to own one :-(

Thankfully, in a few months I'm going to change that - I'm currently thinking about an Evora, probably an NA sports racer.  It wont be a daily but rather a pride and joy to enjoy at weekends :-)

I'm doing lots of research at the moment and keeping an eye on the market - I'm quite impressed that prices seem to have stayed quite level for a few years now, so I'm hoping my budget of £30k will get a good one!

In the meantime, if anyone has any tips I'm all ears, I've got a couple of links from you guys on here already - I've been on other motoring forums (Civinfo!) and this one seems really friendly which is great and there's a lot more Lotus coverage on YouTube of late (mostly thanks to JayEmm I think, if you've not seen his videos, you need to check them out!!!)

I'm Hampshire based too and keen to hear of any good driving roads in this part of woods!

Looking forward to getting to know you all. Dean

  7. Wow! I'm basically in the same position as you now, looking for a Sports Racer NA (2+2), though I'll consider an S at the right price(!).  Ultimately not too fussed on colour though my favourites is Solar Yellow.

How has your search gone?  I'd appreciate any hints or tips you may have for things to look out for, things to check etc.

And this is what a re-covered My10/11 wheel looks like and to be honest, I think it beats the other two for looks and at £125 job done a bloody bargain. But then, I am of course, biased!

My one was nappa leather, perforated leather and red leather strip and red stitching detail. You can choose what ever colour/style you want including alcantara, colours (wheel and strip), etc.

Hi - can I ask where you got yours done from?  That's a great price I think it looks brilliant.  Even though I do sit on the alcantara fence ;-)

Now I am happy the interior is complete. Goes perfectly with the suedetex interior.

Ill list my MY2013 wheel this weekend ?

May I ask how much / where from your 400 wheel was?

I'm thinking of getting an Evora (probably a Sports Racer) and I'm already starting a list of mods...!

    Thanks in advance!
