  1. Hello. Looking for a dashboard binnacle for my fathers Guigiaro Esprit Turbo. He finds sun glare reflecting in the dashboard distracting and would like to have a spare dashboard retrimmed in a different material to reduce glare, whilst keeping the option to revert back to standard at a later date. Just need a bare binnacle. Located, Norwich / UK
  2. Lotus79B sent a message about VPW and this is what my father replied. I thought it may interest folk here.
  3. I will try and find more information for you.
  4. If a replacement logbook was issued in 29.09.2017 it means it has a new keeper or existing keeper changed address, or possibly a duplicated V5 to replace a lost one.
  5. My father was hired by Colin Chapman at the British Motor Show following a chance conversation with my mother. He was working at Holset turbochargers and previous to that was working at Ford in Dagenham in their engine development role. The original Turbo Esprit engine contains a lot of his blood, sweat and tears. He's been spending lockdown writing the family history and that included a list of cars he's owned over the years - I googled the registrations to see if they were still about and that let me to this thread.
  6. When I'm next at my parents house I'll see if he has any files left on the car which may shed some light on it. It may be that the files went with the cars when they were sold on. Here is a photo of VPW941X and I suspect the other car is shown in the background of the second shot, along with an Elan and a Citroen CX Safari.
  7. I was googling registration numbers and this thread came up. My father, Martin Cliffe, was heavily involved in the engineering of the original turbo Esprit, and he bought two cars from the factory that were no longer required. One was MPW 80V (memory may be incorrect), the other was VPW 941X. Both were used as prototypes. One was used for development of the original Turbo Esprit, and one was for development of a V8 Esprit that wasn't taken further. I believe that was MPW 80V. This was engineless when he got it. This would have been early 1980's.
