  1. Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of anyone interested in in an (G)S3? Unfortunately it is mine but a house move with the GF poses no option It is currently on the Autotrader website and will be in the 'Club Lotus' magazine next month. I have spent thousands on it over the past two years plus countless hours myself thanks to you guys on the forum. If anyone would like to offer a good home plesase give me a bell.
  2. Thanks everyone for their help. I found the pipe under the air box, so I'm up and running. Cheers.
  3. Does anyone know if the crank case breather hose on an (G)S3 is meant to feed back into the air box or feeds in to the atmosphere? My hose has lost an attachment and blowing fumes into the engine bay . Any advice appreciated. Cheers, Ben.
  4. Thanks guys, I've bgought a new thermostat (again) but i'll check it in boling water first this time and see if it works. The heater doesn't actually get that warm so I guess that the temp is low and it's not the gauge. Thanks for all your help.
  5. Hi Jussi, The temp only gets up to 90 when the car is running stationary for a while. As soon as the car starts moving the temp (due to air cooling the engine I guess??) drops to 60 and stays there, does that seem normal?
  6. Has anyone got any suggestions? My car (S3 normally aspirated) is running at around 60 degree's celcius when the car is moving only warming up (eventually) to 90 degree's when the car is stationary in traffic. Despite this the car seems to be running fine, is this low and can the low temperature be doing damage to the engine? I have chenged the thermostat and gaskit yet the problem remains. any help greatly appreciated. Ben.
  7. thaks again for everyone's help, I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers, Ben.
  8. Thanks Jon & Dan, the hole is not in the back box (stainless steel and in good condition), its in the adjoining part to the left of the back box which I guess is the central exhaust system. lotusbits.com have got a complete system for
  9. Excuse the explicit sounding topic!!! My exhaust is blowing under acceleration and I think I've found the culprit to be a tiny hole in the system to the left of the silencer at the rear of the car (excuse my ignorance here). I think this is an original component due to the severe rust situation, just need to know if this is an isolated component and can be replaced without too much trouble or does it mean that the whole system needs replacing i.e. manifold and connecting system? Thanks, Ben.
  10. The beer idea didn't happen but it seems as though more and more people from this area like the idea of a few jars and a bit of esprit chat so if anyones up for it lets arrange a place and a time...any suggestions?
  11. Thanks for everyones help. Cheers, Ben.
  12. Just wondered if anyone could give me a possible diagnosis? I have noticed an ever increasing patch of oil developing where i park my car (Esprit s3). I check the engine oil regularly and always seems to be ok which makes me think that it could be leaking from the transmission? Excuse my ignorance but is this a sealed unit and is there any way that i can check the level/top it up? Thanks, Ben.
  13. Hi Bibs, Thanks for your reply, a south london beer sounds like a good idea (if the others fancy it??). Lets see what we can arrange. Cheers, BenL
  14. Thanks to everyone for the possible problems, i'll get straigt on the case and see if I can get to the bottom of it! Cheers, Ben.
  15. Whilst recently driving my espit the car began to mis-fire. I was travelling at about 50mph along a motorway and progresively put on power when the engine began to splutter. This became worse along the course of the journey to the point where pressing the accelerator pedal would give no response at all. I know that this is a bit of a bad explanation but can anyone give a diagnosis as to what the possible problem could be, and any possible tests I could carry out to get to the bottom of the problem. (I know that it could be any number of things. I thought it could be the fuel pump?). I'm quite willing to try and carry out the work myself if i'ts easily rectified. Appreciate any possible feedback, Thanks, Ben.
