  1. Hi Paul,

I'm looking at purchasing a 2015 (manufactured in very late 2014) Evora S that is in Canada (I'm in USA).  The engine cover and the support rod are not installed it the vehicle and it's a bit of a mystery .  The car is a bit of a "unicorn" vehicle....painted in "Pewter Grey" even though that was not a listed color option for the 2014 Evora.  I saw you made a comment some time ago that the last number of Evoras that left the factory were not fitted with the cover.  Ive not found this anywhere online but it could explain why the cover and support rod are missing.  We thought before that a servicing dealer who replaced the clutch may have forgotten to reinstall it.  Can you help me with anything that you know?
    Thanks so much

      Hi Dave,

I believe that the engine cover was not fitted or supplied by the factory on late production model Evora S. it was I understand a cost saving measure implemented by the then CEO. My car was one of those affected and the above is what I was told when I queried why it was not fitted. I also looked for other recently produced Evora S and they also lacked the engine cover.

As for the support rod, if you mean the engine hatch support rod then, as far as I know, they were always supplied. If the rear clam has been off to enable the clutch replacement then that could explain it but I’m not sure there would have been a need to remove the rod when removing the rear clam.

Evora S is an amazing car, I do miss mine, enjoy if you buy it.

      Hi Paul!

Thank you!  The support rod I'm referring to is the rod that goes across the engine compartment, left to right, with the "receivers" welded onto it that the front of the engine cover slides onto, then it latches on the aft end.  I have access to a rod and cover at a reasonable cost but don't have the car quite yet and am not sure if the bosses are in the compartment to screw the rod bolts into.  I would assume they are there, as all Evoras had....they just didnt attach anything to the two points.  That's my assumption.

I'm looking forward to receiving the car.  It has to be shipped to me a long distance...Calgary to Atlanta!  I just sold my Elise and will miss it but am ready for a few more creature comforts....my wife is too!  lol

Thank you so much for the information!  Very helpful!

      Hi Dave,

Apologies, it is a few years now since I sole my Evora so I am having difficulties in visualising the engine compartment.

I would suggest that you put a post on the general Evora forum and I’m sure that someone will respond with the information which you require. The guys on there are quite a friendly and knowledgable bunch.

Hope you and your wife enjoy the car, it will certainly be more comfortable than the Elise, with a bit more luggage room as well by using the 2 rear seats or shelf if it is not a 2+2.

      Paul
