I too have had this problem but I think mine has sorted itself out. The bulk of electrics would die. I would be crusing and all gauges would power off and the engine would die. I could be sat at the lights and it would die. The fix for my problem: New battery, engine earth lead cleaned at both ends and the main culprit was a connecter under the dash. Take the steering wheel of and the trim round it. Very easy to do. You will then see the block and the chunky red wire. It has five wires and a big thick red wire was loose plus there was some corrosion on the terminals. Its the only one with a really meaty red wire. Once I cut it and restriped the ends of that red wire and rewired it with some chock block the car has been fine. This is the hardest fault I have had to trouble shoot so far. Kato once made of with my wife while we paused in a convoy and they all pulled out and my car was dead. He then zoomed off with my Mrs who was joy riding with him! After they all left 20 mins later it magically started were it had been completely dead. On turning the key one would have no IGN lights etc... hope that helps Curly Jon

JazzyNet Lotus Gallery This is the 1st time I have published the site for all to see. I might open it and change it to make it the complete Esprit Run gallery with other people submtting pictures. Here are my pics from Donington and I have some movies to stick up that also includes the rear end shunt. Shame the Mrs was not filming about 5 secs before on that one..... Got her the cam for Christmas as she sometimes seems bored at the meets so gives her something to do as she wont clean the car! Well, with out the crank in it I can lift it by hand! No a lot of help but you never know!

The pain colour on the can is: Type A42 So I would guess thats the Lotus BRG colour apart from that its just a plan can. Curly Jon

Jussi, You need to go and look at you front springs! There are about 6 differnent types. Just knowing the car model and year does not mean you can buy a Lotus spring and it will fit! Check list: Front IS spring a tapered type - Normally its wide at the bottom and gets a saller diameter at the top of the spring. Parallel - even gaps all the way up the spring. Paint marks. Along with the shape of the spring there are different paint marks on the spring. Yellow,white and purple and maybe some others. Once you have this info Shape and paint marks you can then be sure of what will and wont fit. Also you then need to know if they are god for a car with or with out aircon as that another type that goes with the above spring spec. For Example mine springs are: Purple/white paint marks Tapered For aircon cars Where are my friend has the same car of the same year has: Yellow paint mark Parallel no air con Rear. I have no idea but the garage did not seem to have a nightmare as they did with the front. Ok so why are there many spring types for the front. Lotus told me that they had supply issues with dampners and thats why there are about 15>20 spring/dampner types! IF you have a rusty spring, the paint will still be visible once they have been removed. It shows up in the bit that sits in the bottom where it has been protected from the elements. Hope that helps. Hi there, I have new ones! It was just after my nightmare that anyone getting them needs to check as there are many differnent types! The springs can be parallel, equal gaps or tapered in shape. Then you have different coloured paint marks on them depending on the Lotus dampner. I had PNM try and sort me out but in the end I had to send one to Lotus to get it identified! Curly Jon

Having had the front springs break while being stored in the garage. Then having the find the right colours and type nightmare. Could you tell us if they are tapered and if there are any coloured strips on them. The yr & model would also be of interest as they are many spring types for the G cars! Curly Jon

Thanks for putting this post up. I checked mine seeing as I had the tool and well I think I have some light blue water! As the hydrometer is about 10 yrs ol I bought one to match the one I got for the battery water testing so once I am back home think I will be testing it again and buying more coolant! I really must start taking pics and making guides for Kato to make a proper G car tech section on his site... Curly
